Hey, this is something that I have been wondering for a long time. Does everybody lose a 1/4" or so when they grind a blade or is it just me? It seems like no matter what I do, this always happens. Usually it has to do with reshaping the tip and grinding the false edge. I wouldn't care so much if I were making fixed blades but it really sucks when your folder blade could have been 1/4" longer and still fit in the handle. So I've taken to starting out extra long and figuring on some loss. Anybody else do this?

Peter,

Science has found its the gravity in MA that does this when the tip is pointed up!

Making anything, if I blink even once, I've exceeded the layout lines. Breathing is usually not a problem on even number days. Forget sneezing or coughing!

Hey peter
someone said here that to make a blade you
grind away what doesn't look like a knife.

Your grinding on the part that looks like the
Knife:eek: :)

Never..:D :D :D
Yea wright..I do this all the time.At least one out of three will be a little modified before I am done with it..
Should we admit to something like this:eek:
If I had to make knives to a set pattern only I would be in a lot of trouble...That is like reading the instructions on how to put something together...
