I was looking at the RAT survival card. What are all the universal/standard ground to air signals? Depending on what your source is I see that there are a few differences. ie. X="requires medical assistance" in some books and on the RAT card "unable to proceed".

To some these may mean the same thing but I tend to be very specific with what I want to spend my time on in the field. Especially if medical assistance is actually required.

There are plenty of SAR websites out there that seem to share the universal identifiers. What does the knife forums say?

We go by the international code although it does indeed vary depending on your source. We've been teaching the codes on the card for years. Same codes as we were taught in ESSEL in Peru by their military. Also verified that with some SAR folks along the way. Even with the slight variation, "Unable to Proceed" or "Require Medical Assistance" for the X is going to be recognized as a pretty serious emergency. In fact the first 3 (I, II and X) is going to get you noticed that you need help pretty quick. Otherwise, you would put an arrow or LL.
