The question came up in another thread about where an image was posted.
It go me to wondering, I did some searching and found 7 FaceBook groups concerning Buck Knives.
All are private except the Buck Knives factory page.
I don't do FaceBook, I spend too much time here as it is.
I did poke around a bit on the BCCI group using my wife's account (which she does not use either)
I can understand the BCCI group but seems like alot of duplicated effort otherwise.
Would be a pain to join them just to see what's up. Any comments on interesting content elsewhere.
I'll just play here but I wonder how many have the time to play on multiple sites?

*Buck Knives (factory public)
*BCCI/The Buck Collectors Club 2K (private)
*Buck Knives Fan Group 10.7K (private)
*Buck 110 Owners & Customizers Group 2.2K (private)
*Buck Knives 1.5K (private)
*Buck 110's Only 1.2K (private)
*The Buck Knives Group 295 (private)

No FaceBook here.
Co-workers have shown me some of the political posts on those knife groups.............. I wouldn't participate in that crap if I could.

I've spoke w/ folks here about that very thing, and they say the moderators condone it.

I dont have facebook either but do look on a couple of the sites using my wife's acct. Sometimes I post a comment and or pictures. They think.my wife knows quite a bit about Buck knives and has quite a collection. I tell my wife to wait until they meet her at the next bcci reunion and they start asking her questions etc. Should be interesting.

I belong to 6 different Buck knife related knife groups on Facebook. Mostly as a lurker and sometimes share knowledge with fellow knife enthusiast's. I am more active here, never know what you will see or learn. I also belong to a few Firearm & Hunting related groups for the same reason.

No Facebook, no Instagram. Only forum I follow now is BF, so crossover doesn't affect me much. And I appreciate the lack of political and cultural junk here. That wasn't the case years ago when I looked at FB and Instagram as possibles. What is it about those two that seems to compel artists, photographers, and other creatives to slather their feeds with pol/cult garbage? Don't understand that.

I understand the custom makers probably get better traffic and exposure from Instagram, and possibly FB. My daughters run their businesses almost exclusively that way... but nope, just not going there. If that's your only net presence as a custom knife maker, you're probably missing a LOT of possible customers. Just my 2 cents. (sorry, that almost sounded like a pol/cult rant didn't it...)

And I thought I was the only person who didn't require FaceBook for fulfilment.
I wonder what the objective is by making the groups private to viewing.

I forgot about another site... https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/
You're certainly not the only one, Roger. I know many of my acquaintances that don't.

I read on the BCCI site that if not private anyone one can post, therefore, they were getting unwanted verbiage and troll-like posts. Making it private eliminates most unwanted posts.

Damn Roger you forgot about Buck knives...edge of a legend 3.5k members and Buckmaster 600 members... lol

Anyone can start a group on facebook which leads to complete overkill in my opinion. Several of them originated from guys being kicked out of another Buck group haha.

Thanks @SkylerStevens. Searching 'Buck' does not find all of them, seem like some you have to type in exactly.

Buck Knives... Edge of a Legend 3.5k (private)
BuckMaster Knives Page Group 531 (this one is public)

Another one popped up.
Buck Knives Philippines 631 (private)

I do follow the BCCI facebook page and the moderators are strict about content. In addition to bladeforums and BCCI facebook, I follow the AAPK Buck page but that doesn't involve much since it may be a week or two between posts. There is some overlap among those three sites, but occasionally there is something unique to a particular site. Three sites is enough, more than enough, for me.

I only play here and once in a very rare while the bcci website. dont like Facebook or Instagram or the rest. had a MySpace account back in 03 think it was to talk with friends who had moved out to California. ironically their back in Georgia now. abandoned cali, wrong place to say why......anyways it was before Facebook was around. I abandoned the MySpace in 2005 I think. realized I prefer forums still and email to talk to distant friends and family. still feel that way.

I'm glad I've avoided social media for the most part.

I just took a look and noticed something. DesotoSky, jbmonkey, and I have been on this forum for the same number of years, but the number of posts is different— jbmonkey: 11,931;DeSotoSky: 4562 and bertl: 1708 Now 1709).

I've always been a windbag, so I'm not surprised.

Bert - I too have noticed that the mods on the bcci facebook site are a bit strict. Inconsistent as well. That' and other reasons are why I dont play on there much.

Interesting. If you look at posting areas, jbmonkey jbmonkey has more rounded interests, with only about half his posts in the Buck forum.

I just like cutlery. different brands, different steels, locking mechanisms, automatics of all kinds, different blade shapes and designers......just cutlery in general. Buck is my favorite though.
