Hello All,
Well, it's rare that I have the chance to spend my day at home so I decided browse the forums a bit. Many of you have taken the time to post up some pics for the enjoyment/ help of others. Some with a great deal of effort. Andy has built a nice community here on the forums and I like to consider myself part of that group if I may. So, in following tradition, I grabbed the camera and my own little stash of Fiddleback's. No prizes here for photography.

Of these, I've minimally used the Bushcrafter, Recluse and Bushfinger. These pics are minus a Tan Canvas Bushfinger, and a Hiking Buddy. Both are in my truck. I use those two regularly for work, trapping and relocating wildlife. The rest of these, I've simply cleaned up and admired. Sometimes they are just too hard to pass up, and they've sat thus far. Although, I recently acquired the stainless Ladyfinger and plan to use that a bit with chores related to fishing while on the boat.

Oh yeah, the pics...
Without further ado, here are my humble little family of Fiddlebacks:

Thanks, Sergio

nice group. Andy's design, fit and finish are easily addictive. I've got to take a "family shot" here soon. The $3.98 pumpkins at Walmart are tempting me...

Hi Sergio.
Nice collection! and, thanks for the pics. I have a favor to ask. While i think i know which is which...could you add a label with knife models? i.e. a "L-R" kinda deal?

thanks much.

Nice shots Sergio. As soon as I get my Bushfinger back I'll do up a shot of my little group of Fiddlebacks. I really like the saber Hiking Buddies. The cool thing about Lisa taking the blue box elder scandi I have is that she loves the knife and will be understanding when I pick up another. I think it is a great size for edc and day hikes. I really like that stainless Ladyfinger too. I plan to pick up one of those someday too, maybe next Blade if Andy has any... though I suspect in the end my brother will end up borrowing it since he does a whole lot more fishing than I do.

Man I like those bolstered ones. Haven't seen any new ones posted for while.

Andy's bolsters are very nicely done. All four of the Fiddlebacks I have gotten have bolsters but that may change soon. I really like that Kephart design and I haven't seen him do any of those with bolsters.

Thanks! I love my blades. In fact, I had a very hard time deciding between the Black Palm hiking buddy I have and that Box Elder scandi you have at Blade 2 years ago. I had them both in my hands and it was a toss up. You must have grabbed the other just after I left, because when I went back to the booth shortly after, it was gone. Then for several months I had to bear with the idea that I chose the wrong one because you were posting up such great picks of the Box Elder one. But, I'm happy.
As far as the Ladyfinger goes, I think it's my new favorite. Fits my hand perfectly, and I love the blade shape. I held one at Blade this past year and knew I needed one in 1/8" stainless. Besides my two users that are always in my truck, it will likely get used a ton next year. I've promised myself after my house renovation is complete, there will be lots of time out on the water! My Recluse and Bushcrafter are stainless as well, but lately I'm liking the thinner stuff.

Thx, Sergio

BTW, what do you guys think of the Arete? I think its my next acquisition.

I really wanted a saber ground HB with micarta handles, but the only other ones he had were in white linen and I don't think white handles are a good idea for me. I tend to worry a lot about organic handle materials here where the humidity is so high, but that blue box elder got in my head though and I couldn't stop thinking about it, so called Andy that Friday night and told him I'd be there to pick it up the next morning. I love the knife and have used it in several projects for books and for my website. I still use it occasionally, but Lisa is very guarded about it...she says if I lose or screw up her knife she'll deal with me in my sleep one night lol. I keep it wiped down with mineral oil for her. I want a stainless Ladyfinger because my Bushfinger was a prototype and had the same handle, but I want 5/32 stainless as I like the extra mass. I figure I'll get one and use it for a season and then instead of letting my brother borrow it I'll clean it up and give it to him for Christmas for the best damned knife he'll ever own. He's too damned cheap to spend the money himself lol...though he makes like 10 times what I make in a year. Which does come in handy when I need to him to pull my ass out of a sling :)

Nice pics Sergio. Nice meeting you at Blade Show too. Its always nice to meet folks that use my knives.

I have a cupped platten on the grinder that I did the bolsters on. the KMG's platten is cupped right at the wrong spot as well. So, glue lines popped in. I can get a ceramic platten liner for the KMG, and have one, but it is too long. these are the reasons for no bolsters.

That's a shame. I hope you get it squared away later. I was actually thinking I wanted to get a couple of non bolstered ones next anyway, but your bolsters really make for some nice color combinations

I agree. A nice exotic or burled wood scale combined with a complimentary micarta bolster is very slick. Functional as well. I once damaged a nice wood handled knife by chipping away at some material with the tip of the blade sort of like a pick. After a couple of misses and jabs into the wood near the ricasso, it was roughed up. Of course, from then on out it became annoying while holding the knife. Had that been micarta or a micarta bolster, probably a different result.
The knife I use the most and gets the most abuse is my canvas micarta Bushfinger. I have a weak spot for the wood ones, but I have to say, the micarta/ G10 just takes the heat.

Micarta can definitely take some abuse. I left my old RC-3 on top of my truck one day and drove off. It didn't come off till I was doing 45 down a main road. Luckily it was night and there was little traffic so I just turned around and went back and got it out of the road. It has canvas micarta handle scales and it just scratched some small light colored places at the pommel end on both sides. A little bit of rubbing with some medium grit sand paper smoothed the roughness, and a little use later and no one can really tell anything happened to it.
