Headed to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park this week with the wife and kids and with my new favorite knife of all time. FB production Kephart (Wears Valley area). I have been buying and selling knives for quite a few years now, always searching for the one. Well this knife is it. Such a perfect knife for me (thanks mistwalker).

I also have one coming in today for my middle boy who's a huge FB fan. Maybe his custom Recluse and wrapped Recluse will get a break from his belt, however will still make the trip with us :)

It's a great feeling and excitement when you find "that" knife. My youngest boy found his last year in the Esee JG3. Now it goes everywhere with him along with his new PM2.

I will take lots of pics and post them up next week.

Pack setups:

Maxpedition Falcon II

Mystery Ranch ASAP

Awesome!! Looking forward to the pictures. I definitely like the looks of the production Kephart. I've got my heart set on a Recluse with some specific specs as my, "the one".

I've said it a few times already, but I sure would love to see a production run of the Recluse model also in 1/8 just like the Kephart.

That's awesome Bob! I make the drive up that way as often as I can. Somewhere in this forum there is a series of photos from me taking my first Hiking Buddy on a long hike up there. I love that area, I'm glad it's only a two hour drive from here to Gatlinburg. The Kephart is damned hard to beat as a bushcraft knife, it is my favorite model for that to date. I love having the mid-tech in S35, and look forward to being able to grab a custom shop one with a burlap handle.

Really looking forward to the pics. I haven't made it up that way yet this year, and it looks like it will be the end of July before I can manage it.

Mystery Ranch and Fiddleback. I am in HEAVEN already!

I hope you have a great trip and look forward to seeing pics when you get back.

As much as I want to stay away from town life the crowds on this trip, looks like we'll be heading to Smoky Mountain Knife works. My wife is interested in picking herself out a new Spyderco. I say hell yea.

Sweet MR pack, especially with the shovit. Sounds like a great trip, can't wait to see your pics.

Looking forward to seeing lots of pictures. How do you like the Falcon ll?

It's a nice solid pack. The absolute best thing about the Falcon is the many compartments. I like it a lot better than the Condor pack I had. However the ASAP rides and carries much better due to the overall design.

I have a Falcon II that I like as well. I'm really interested in that ASAP pack though. I've been checking them out recently

I'd say you both are :D did you bring your other Kephart or just the mid-tech version?

Added some crappy phone pics. Still need to get the ones off of my camera. It was a fun trip. Hiked to some remote waterfalls well away from the holiday tourist. Wife picked out a Spyderco while at a Smoky Mountain Knife Works and then found a badass punisher ninja super knife on the sidewalk in Gatlinburg.

Wow. What a thread. I love the scenery and outdoors pics. I'm also very into those Kephart pics. Is that cabin yours or rented? Its a cool looking one, and what a view!!

this pic looks really good for no editing and from a phone. It's now my screensaver.
