GSO 5.1 Mon 11th 2nds

Website said about 5 business days. I looked after I ordered and it said the 2nds were more messed up than normal
or something to that affect. Should I be worried? lol I ordered this one to replace my Silent Hero I sold. I loved the Silent Hero
but I knew I wanted a knife similar to that and the 5.1 is almost same specs but CPM 3V instead of the 1095 and better handles.
Better sheath, better warranty for not that much more money. Win win but getting them is not to easy.

I was torn between the BRK Bravo 1.5 3V or S!K 5.1 3V The 5.1 became available as I refreshed and refreshed.
I locked that down quick as could be. I even practiced earlier so I would take to long. I told myself if I can get the 5.1 im getting it and if not im getting the BRK1.5 and im happy I got the chance to order one but im not great at waiting. I still want to get my hands my 5.1.

If you got your order in, you will be taken care of. I bought a first and a second and both are great! The 2nd has a tiny blemish on it, nothing more
 
I just received my 5.1 2nd yesterday and it was ordered on the 4th. It looks great though, I can't even tell why it is a 2nd.
 
Have no regrets, the Survive 2nds, 3rd, or fourths, are better IMO than the Bark River
 
I've got both, you made the right call IMO. I didn't see the comments about the seconds, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. Even their seconds are excellent.

I've got two seconds coming from that sale. Ellie contacted me about switching scales as the black g10 didn't pass QC for a few blades. They upgraded me to black & red g10, and asked my shirt size so that they could include one for my trouble. So for the trouble of answering an email, I'm getting more expensive scales and free shirt. They will ALWAYS take care of you, but it definitely takes time to get some things from them. Totally worth the wait IMO.
 
I plan to use it so a little blemish isnt a big deal. Im impatient I know it will be worth the wait.

Damn cant beat that! Glad to know you like it better than a 1.5. I had a used one in s35vn i sold to be able to buy the GSO.
 
Here's the 5.1 next to a B2 (Sorry about the quality, I snapped it strictly for a down-and-dirty comparison pic one night). I'm certainly not hating on the barkies, I still own several. But between the 1.5 and 5.1, I prefer the GSO. The ergos of the 5.1 definitely work better for me.

 
The 5.1 is a well balanced knife.
And the 2nds are a great deal since they're QC standards are very high.
Many of the blemish's are so small that you'll never notice them.
 
Thanks for talking me through my moment of weakness. Thanks for the picture comparison too. I have a Bravo 2 and a Pro Brush knife. I need to see
what the Survive Knives are all about. I know I already want the 12 and 8 and the 3.5 and 4.7 look good.
 
This one will be my daily user for when I go check hog traps or setup hog traps.
Looks like the perfect size.
 
There isnt any where I live but I go over the bridge and Merritt Island and the Cocoa are loaded with them.
I think the Space Center Wildlife Refuge let them build their numbers and now they are abundant around the area.
I dont have to go far to where they hide. They do well because they go into stuff most humans wouldnt want to deal with.
A lot of old orange groves around and the pigs like oranges. Its a lot of fun.
 
If you ever end up with anything that you can share picture-wise, the trophy room thread has a lot of good pictures. Hope to see some of yours there :thumbup:
 
Cool Ill do that. I like to take them alive if I can. I have a pen that I cam keep them in.
Good news for the people who bought 5.1s on the 11th. My paypal says it going to be paying for the knife
this Monday so sounds like we should be getting shipping notices then. Wooohoo!
 
I received my factory 2nd GSO 5.1 3V yesterday, ordered Monday, April 4th. So far, I am incredibly pleased with this knife. Guy and Ellie have done a fantastic job.

I did a very thorough examination of the knife, and was unable to find a single blemish to explain why it would be considered a factory second. Perhaps there was a blemish underneath the scales? Otherwise, I have no idea.
 
Also, does anybody know if these come pre coated with any oil? Seems dry to me, but I haven't really dealt much with non stainless steel. I'm in SLC Utah, and don't see much in the way of humidity. Should I throw on a quick coat of mineral oil?
