I apology if this has been stated somewhere and my searches have missed it.
I am definately wanting to get in on the GSO 6 ... my question is how long will it be available for preorder? I didn't know if I needed to rush to get it preodered ... or if it would be possible to still place an order the beginnig of October since there are still several other models to get produced ahead of this.
Thanks in advance of an answer ... I thought maybe someone here knew and I wouldn't have to slow them down at the shop to answer this.

I was trying to feel out an answer to the same question the other week about 4.1's. I wonder of S! would consider doing a "last call" when they know they're ready for production and closing out the ordering for each model.

As a guess, I would think you have a good chunk of time for the 6 because it is not even in the production schedule yet. The plan is for production to keep speeding up and becoming more efficient, but if the 5.1 is the first in production and only one other model is currently marked in production I don't think there should be a rush for you.

Plus I'm sure the 10 will be up next after the 12 because, you know, that's the one I ordered....... :D
 
You can sign up for their 1st Friday production update. They send an email with the anticipated production order and activity for the month. For example, this month they said that the 2.7 steel was in stock, and that blanks should begin being cut on 8-14. This information can also be found on the website. Last Friday's update read:

In Production:
• GSO-5 orders are shipping out daily!
o There were a few hundred orders placed for these so it will take a few weeks to get them all sharpened and built.
• The Necker II sheaths are getting pressed this month.
• The new GSO-5.1 blades are at production grinding.
o They are on schedule to be in our workshop in about a month. Once here, we will begin getting the blades surface finished, engraved and sharpened while handles and sheaths are being produced.
• The GSO-4.7 blades are mostly all cut out and will be right behind the GSO-5.1 in the production line.
• GSO-2.7 steel was in stock so we were able to pick that up a bit sooner than expected. These are going to be bumped up in the production line.
o Blade blanks will start getting cut out Aug 14th.
• We also have GSO-4.1 steel. Cutting is scheduled for late August.
• Steel for the GSO-7/7 will arrive in August.
• Then, we will be seeing the steel for the GSO-3.5 and then the GSO-12.
• As we get a better idea of demand for the newly available GSO models, we will get those added to the Production Schedule.

I am assuming that when they start cutting blanks, that model is considered in production and the pre-order will close. As you can see, the GSO 6 did not even make the update this month. So I would say you are definitely safe for another month to see what September update brings.
 
For the sake of my marriage, I am going to hold off on this until a bit later, but I will definitely be pre-ordering it...so part of me hopes it takes just a little while before "last call" That all said, I think you can review what Mac said and get a pretty good idea, you likely have some time if you need it.
 
thanks ... yes I receive their updates and looked at the production scheduale ... I will watch closer and see I sure don't want to miss out on the 6 ... I order a 5.1 through the starter and held out for the 6 ... Id hate to miss out on this one!

So far, the cutting has been lining up with the 1st Friday Updates so we have been making it a point to mention it on there. I am going to try using solid dates on the Production Schedule, so you can know exactly when ordering will close ahead of time.

There will definitely be some time before the GSO-6 ordering shuts down.
