GTR Special Length?

I know the Randalls with stag handles may vary a bit in overall length. What about a GTR Special with a stag handle and no butt cap, just a butt plate? What is the best guess for the overall length on something like that?

Rob, typically 7.5" to 8.0" It's a good sized using knife...

It's also one of the few that's "street legal" for those of us living in places with nonsensical blade length restrictions.

7.5 sounds good. I had seen various lengths listed. I have had one order for awhile. I though it would be by Christmas but it now looks like it will be my Valentine's Day Randall.:D

I saw an older post here in this sub-forum that said Randall uses ATS-34 for the stainless blades on their knives made from 3/16 inch stock. Anyone know if that is still the case? I just got the word my GTR will ship next week (from a dealer), it is made from 3/16" stock I believe, so I was curious what the blade steel might be. Not really concerned about it one way or another, just curious.

Thanks

The last I heard, they were "phasing out" the ATS-34 stock. That was a year or more ago, so I'm guessing it's probably all gone by now, but don't quote me on that. Yours will most likely be in the same 440B/440C stainless as the bigger knives.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I hope you will post some pics of it Rob.

Got the knife and figured I would post a picture. GTR Special, 3 1/2 inch stainless blade, about 7 5/8 inches overall, nickel silver hilt, aluminum/black spacers, some thumb notches and a nickel silver butt plate. And some stag, some really, really nice stag. Very cool.
