Hello !
I make my first "half sloted guard knife" ans I wonder
about the guard-spacer-scale jonction...

I want to have the wood scale, a black vulcanized fiber spacer, a metal spacer, a other black fiber spacer ant the guard... But I have some difficulty in decided how to arrange them.

I have make a test with two possibilities (see the picture and the drawing below)... I would like to have your opinion on the subject!

absolutly, positivly, most definatly the one on the left. no black spcer between the tang and the silver spacer.

Thanks Peter and Michael !
Ok, one for the left and one for the right :(

Somebody else have a opinion?

I would say the one on the left, or if you do it like on the right then continue the spacer all the way to the end.

I'd do it like the left one, too.
The metal parts will look the same depth, and the scales floating.
Somehow, the floating metal spacer just looks "loose" when looking at it next to the bolster.

Alain: I really like that look. How do you propose to secure the metal spacer on a full tang handle? Is it pinned through to the guard?

Thanks all ! I will go for the left !

Mikes, I thought to put a pin, but when I take out the test (on the pict) I had so difficulty to unsticking it (glued with only one drop of superglue) that I thinks that will be not necessary to pin it...

I think to make only some small holes in the guard and in spacer,
the glue will act as pins and that will give more grip for the glue...
