My friend Gudy Van Poppel (dutch knifemaker) made a new piece of "sharp art". Now don't get me wrong, I call it "art", but it is a fully functional knife! The knife is not mine, the pics are made by Gudy.

Explosion Damascus (75NI8 + O2), Sambar Stag handle with bronze spacers, length 36cm, bladelength 24cm, blade thickness 7mm.

Enjoy the pics!

Kind regards,

The detail work both in the knife and the photos is remarkable--beautifully done. Nice treatment on the stag--I assume there was some dying and/or "toasting" involved and the polishing of the rough "popcorn" while leaving plenty of texture is an especially subtle technique--really like that.

+1  VERY nice bowie, and i'd agree with Will on the knife, and stag treatment.

Very interesting.

I cannot explain it, but it has a certain European look to it as I see it. I think it is something in the combination of the guard, the relationship between the width of the blade and the handle, and even the color of the stag.

Congrats to your friend.
