the flaws in this abound, but it's done - and for the first knife I've made in roughly 20 years, it's at least better than the last one...
Seax knife (traditional viking EDC :D )

filework (which i think came out OK)

1/4" x 1 1/2" 1084, mystery exotic wood (we think it's related to purpleheart), brass, and the pins are copper filled aluminum tubing.

a little bit of practice - and some close studying of cricketdave & bill's work...
this is the closest I've come to getting it right so far and it's prettier than "standard" jimping but still gives good traction for indexing.

A lot better than I could have done. Like the file work. Don't give up now, start planing your next one.

Nice Vik! I think you have the starting point for many more down the road. That one looks great

Looks good man, and we already know you are better than Chris at one thing. I hear his File work is so ugly that it was your dog you would shave its a$$ and make it walk backwards. He would need a permit to produce knives with that shit on them.

LMAO! Ive never tried to do filework. Although that is going to change here really soon. I have a couple knives where the customer would like jimping on the spine. Gotta get some practice in before I attemp it!

Vik, that knife sure beats a lot of others I have seen on B/F from some of the so-called "expereinced" makers . . . . .
And from what I "hear" from reliable sources "close to home", people from Kansas don't usually give up this easily . . . . . ;)
Stick with it buddy, might prove to be an interesting "part time hobby" one of these days . . . . .
On a side note, congratulations on that unbelieveable milestone of 5,000 posts . . . . . . god, that is a lot of key strokes . . . . . .
Excellent work.
Be safe.
