Guess what came in the mail!

My RC-3 from Knifesupply.com arrived today and I am impressed! The edge is scary sharp out of the box and the handle fits my hand wonderfully. I gave the blade a light mustard patina and it looks great.

Generally with carbon steels over use they'll develop a sort of oxidation (like rust, but good), which not only looks awesome but is a great protectant against rust. RC knives all have a coating (except the edge) so a patina isn't necessary, but still looks great if you're going for that aged/used look.

You can accelerate this effect by using something acidic, like mustard, vinegars, juices. etc.

My camera is also pretty useless. And since the patina is only on the edge and on the etching. You can't really see it in pictures. But I'll post some anyway.
