hey everyone. i just got 2 new kershaws! i am really happy and impressed! details as to what ones later

Almost forgot...

Happy Birthday Offsetlover!

Well, at this point I should say hope you had a happy birthday!

ok folks the wait is over! and the winners are.................the Lahar and..................the JYDII !

i handled the Lahar first. the handle felt great right from when i touched it. the blade is freaky sharp (the recurve will take hair off faster than anything, while the part the curves up is still shaving (easily in most directions) sharp.

quality is the best i have ever seen on a knife. in my opinion BM isnt quite as good (very close though. and yes, i have handled the super good BM's (Osbornes, Rukus, Skirmish ect.) fit and finish are, as was mentioned in kneedeep's thread, perfect. why the MSRP is only $100, i have no idea. (dont change it!). the G-10 is excellent and the opening is fast and smooth. not as authoritive as an AO kershaw, but still strong and secure. the liner lock is great and locks perfectly.

over all i give the Lahar a very good 9.8 out of ten. (why 9.8? well i think the handle could be a bit wider at the back and a lanyard hole would be nice. also the grind could be a bit higher(the edge grind that is) in part of the blade up on the part that curves up. nothing can be done. besides, it will shave hair in one extra pass than normal. why would i complain?)

the JYDI i handled next and I immediatly knew that it was too small for me. i couldnt get it open without getting a real good grip. not something i really want to deal with.

the JYDII was next and i really liked the feel of it, but i still continued on to the others. i will give my impressions later in this post.

i then played with the mini mojo, but it didnt have the new steel and i still wasnt sold on the stud lock on such a small knife, i didnt go with it. btw kneedeep, i had a three finger grip on the mojo, and that was cutting it close.

the baby boa wasnt in stock, so maybe later i'll get to try it out

also played with a couple of BM's, but nothing eall caught my eye or my budget.

here is something of interest though. i played with a Spyderco Manix and Para Military. they fit my hand well and i was surprised i actually liked them. usually i hate spyderco. also played with the Salt 1 for my friend. couldnt get that for him today, but i will in a few weeks.

ok now for the JYDII review.
well i decided to go back to look at the JYDII again after looking at all sorts of other knives, and i decided that this would be knife number two. the egros are nice, the G-10 gripy but not too rough. the blade shape im still getting used to, but i am liking it alot more. it may become my new EDC. opening action is fast and smooth, with a tight lock up. the handle looks almost grey/green to me, which adds intrest.

sharpness is the same as the Lahar, but different. thats because of blade shape (mod. drop point (?) vs. recurve) and grind angles. the JYDII has a very low bevel while the Lahar is high.

the fit and finish are excellent. not quite as high as the Lahar's but still very very good. the flipper is better than the Lahar's in that it is rounded off.

overall i give the JYDII a 9 out of 10. (steal is 13c26, not VG-10. fit and finish are not quite as good as the Lahar. egros aren't quite as good. in short its just hair behind the lahar in every catagory).

overall Kershaw has done it yet again. two great knives. one will be a collector (Lahar. its to classy and beautiful) and one will be a user (JYDII).

a big thanks goes out to Ken Onion and Tim Galyean for designing great knives and letting a great company produce them.

on a final note, i am now 18 (thank you for the happy BD kneedeep and kershawguy) and i now am President of my very own video production company!

I went to the knife shop at my local mall and the owner and I got to talking about internet companies. He sell knives online too. Good thing too, since he is selling the JYD2 for $89.99 and the Needs Work for $49.99!

He kept lamenting about how everyone comes in to look at the knife they just bought online. I wanted to bring up his prices, but there was nothing to gain.

Enjoy the new knives TJ and happy Birthday!

Great choices! Better sizes for you.

With the Mini Mojo, we just need to convince Kershaw to make a full size Mojo/Mojito. I love the stud lock on the small knife though.

Congrats on the presidency!
