Guides aganist stones

I am just getting started in sharpening my own knives and have looked at several systems and am a litle confused. Won't the guides on some of the systems wear down as they are used? Example Razor Edge , and actually any guide that rests on the stone when used.

Yes, the guide eventually wears down. After a long time, you'll need to replace the guide. No big deal.
