Hello, I am new to the forum, (aside from some excellent experiences in buying from from two of you guys); I haven't figured out how to post pics, most of my knives are Kershaw, CRK&T, CS, KaBar, Gerber (and an ancient Case from my dad) but sometimes I like improbable-looking blades from the cheaper tables at the gun show, and something tells me I'm not alone; so... let's hear your "guilty pleasures," for me it's a few United Cutlery/Gil Hibben wall hangers (Jackal, Scorpion, Double Shadow) and a United "Volkoth fighting axe."

Yeah yeah, we all know about their cheap 420 stainless steel, rat-tail tangs, dubious design and nonexistent utility, but come on, everyone has at least a few bauble knives!

Cheers,

Junkyard Willie

I have two souvenir brass battleaxes I picked up in Turkey! :)

You left out the only Hibben I would buy -- the Dragon Lord

Seriously, there are a lot of replicas out there that look good, even if they couldn't cut down an enemy knight -- but who's cutting down knights these days, anyway? I think it's entirely valid to have an interest in a less-than-authentic copy, just as it is to have a less-than-accurate movie about ancient Troy, or a painting of old Toledo.

Fantasy cutlery, whether from a recognized series like The Lord of the Rings or Star Trek, or just wild and crazy pieces from a barbarian past that never really existed, are as much fun as the comic books that got a lot of us started before we turned to more serious literature. Like Tarzan books! :D
