umm.

I'm not a proper 'forumite' i suppose (tho i'd like to be); not considered a real HI regular.

but for the last 3 days i've been 'lurking', waitin' for Uncle Bill to post up some ridiculously priced Khukuris.

I sort of feel a bit guilty for not just going ot the shopping site and buying a full priced blade that'd be a guarunteed purchase.

Bill seems such a genuine bloke, and HI is a company that could teach others a thing or two about customer and employee care.

I guess those folks who have a dozen HI khuks already have already shown enough support fo the company.

I'm unemployed at the moment, so a full price khuk is out of the question . . . even that 1/2price Ganga Ram on 5/7 for $100 was beyond me. . . justification? only just enough for me to 'lurk' some more trying to buy my brother a 21st birtday pressie with a huge feeling that i'm not as nice a guy as our Uncle Bill :(

Wouldn't feel real bad about it.

Blems are ones that for some reason, Bill or Yangdu don't think "deserve" full price.

The Crazy Pala Deals are to generate immediate cash at the expense of total profit. If your cash ends up in Reno, and it wouldn't have otherwise, the intent has been served.

And there is the well-know addiction factor.

Hope you see something that matches your budget.:)

In my experience, everyone's welcome at the Cantina. The only real qualification is an incubating or full-blown case of HIKV. Even a general interest in khukuris is enough.

Regarding blems: I've bought maybe 1/5 of my khuks at list price. I try to make up for it by contributing to various HI-related projects, like Ram's college fund, khuks for troops, or the medical fund. Blems are fun, because they require a little extra care and attention. For me, I'd rather get a blem and have an interesting project to work on. Then again, I don't have too much in the way of chopping wood around here, so takes a bit of effort to get out and use them.

As Firkin noted - blems are just candy for the addicted, so I think HI wins in the long run. :D

if you buy anything you are "supporting" the company..

but in reality... dont support a company bcs its a "good" company... thats rubish... buy from the company that offers (what you think) is the best deal.

HI easily is the best stuff ive ever gotten my hands on... i purchased 2 khuks kept 1 and gave the other to my bro as a gift... ts the highest quality knife ive ever owned. I love it..

HI won my business i dont thiunk in terms of "supporting HI" they are simply the best.. and offer a tops product and im gona keep coming back...

this forumn is a plus. Im sure bill and the others that post here are great.. i enjoy reading thir posts and i find many of their lives really exciting... and i respect what many have been through.

hehe.. i forgot the point of this post.. awe well..
oh yah.. the point is... dont feel guilty.... wait for bill to post a good deal... bcs in your eyes the crack handle or whatever blemish is worth half the price.

bill knows what customers want... they want good deals.. they want customer service they want high quality... and he delivers all these things in spades

Supporting this company HI is addictive. Hence, HIKV. The product is the best. Haven't seen anything better and Uncle Bill could teach alot of people alot about being a people person.

H.I. has a good product and a really good guarantee. But I come here everyday to watch the freak show. :D

Um, Bruise, You are the freak show :D

( I mean that in the nicest way possible of course; you are one of the funniest Saudis on the net)

Well, it was a synchronous turn of events for me today, because I sat down at the computer to order up a full-price 12" AK and just happened to check the forum first. There was a 12" blem posted only two minutes previously like it was being handed to me by the Khuk Gods.

So, I will now have 12" and 18" AKs, and may have my personal khuk requirement pretty well covered. However, I will probably need a couple more at whatever price, because my hunting gumbas will never let me go home with mine after trying them out. My suspicion is that whenever you let a guy try your khuk out in the woods, Uncle Bill has just sold another one.

yah i agree 100% with that

my brother tried his new khuk on a tree he saw on the side of the woods.. and he called me up telling me its the best knife he ever owned...

and my brother is a hunting and knife freak... and hes very hard to impress... xtremely hard to impress... so i know that if hes happy then its a good product..

As someone who isnt a khuk collector, but a big believer in fate, I always found UBDOTDs to be serendipitous signs. So many factors that line up, just to give you that one special khuk. Also makes decisions easier (letting fate decide). Cause we all know, deep down, there really isnt such a thing as a bad khuk. Its all just a matter of what you can afford at the moment.:D

Anyways, I come here cuz I likes watching Bruise. :p

I have a twin of the 12in Shankar aka whizzkid(trident) AK. DO NOT let anyone else hold it. It is yours. Only yours. No friend or relative should be allowed to have it in their hands. (Change your name if you have to, move to Montana, live in a cave with buried Cavalry treasure.)

Did I mention I love mine?

a punker? Welcome and enjoy the show. I only come to watch Fed watch Bruise.

(That, and I learn about generosity each day here.)

Pala's a little crazy but they don't have 30 year contruction loans in Nepal. Everybody wants their cash now. Materials COD and labor paid weekly. Foundation complete and support pillars going up. Cement construction, typical Nepali, and I hate it. Ugly, cold, hard to clean and it cracks. I do hope they move the BirGorkha charpi, tho, and not build a new decent one.

Also, Pala has to dig a well since it is not cost effective to pipe in local pressurized supply -- too far. And electric poles will have to be set for a mile or two as best I can tell to get electricity to the shop. Cost to get electricty in is about $3000 dollars. About three years pay for a school teacher. It ain't cheap by Nepali standards.

I'm no businessman, but if they can have sales and get the building paid off now, sure sounds better to me than a having 30 year loan over your head, anyway.

Massive debt is one thing they shouldn't learn from the US. (I hope the US doesn't provide too drastic an example of what can happen.)

Don't feel bad, the only two HI khuks I own were UBDOTDs. They were just meant for me, or at least that was how I justified spending the money at the time ;) .

If you feel guilty...... that would make me...Shameless!!! ;)

I'd jump on a deal or any of those lettered specials in a flash.
(When able to)
I figure, whatever the amount, sent HI's way is a good thing. Keeps things rolling, (viable, as opposed to a storage facility for khuks) - through the inevitable ups and downs of a business entity.
Plus food on the table for many.

In all honesty I feel a bit guilty too. In hoping to contribute to the cash flow for the new building.

Seeing as there could be people watching,
I best go find my decorum, before they come back!.:D ;)
