Hi, guys,

What do you think of the idea of gun-blueing a Carbon V blade ?

Is it a stupid idea or it can be done ? ;)

Your thoughts, please !

Hi Andre..

no it's not a stupid idea at all..
I've seen it done on a grohmann R2 and it looked pretty good,,even though it was pretty much beat up..
It was a Canadian forces soldiers knife,,so I'm not sure if it came blued from the factory or if it was a home done job....

If you F it up,, just buff it off and retry..
Make sure the blade is Super,,Super clean before you apply!!

I agree with Normark, It's real easy to do and is not a problem removing and starting over again. I would recommend the creme or liquid blueing, They are easier then the paste. If you want to give it an aged look rub the blade after blueing with the finest steel wool availible.Very lightly

The proper way is to remove the handles and hot blue it. Cold blue doesn't do nearly as good a job.

The lemon juice patina makes for a pretty blade with character, as well.
Could you discuss this option a bit more. Sounds interesting.

The acids in foods, especially citrus fruits, can give carbon steel some really interesting hues if you let the liquid remain on the blade for a while.

Another interesting "stain" can be created by dabbing on mustard.

Have fun experimenting.
