Need some help guys, I need stats for a city that has banned pistols or rifles (not assault ban) and prohibits concealed and open carry
then a city that is very gun friendly and allows both concealed and open carry
to show that more guns equate to less crime via deterrence etc.

I am moving this to Knife laws. They may have the resources to help you there.

I think the NRA has the best resources on the subject. You might try with them. I could give you examples off the top of my head, but they've got the info properly sourced and documented.
I'd try calling them up, tell your story and see where they point you. It may take too long if you send a general email inquiry.

Good luck!

Hmmm, don't have the info readily available but a good choice to start with would be Washington D.C.--damned near impossible to legally obtain a firearm there, and has been either the murder capitol of the country (or occasionally in second/third place) for around 30 years now.

yeah washington is exactly what i want! chicago too ... i cant think of a city that is really gun friendly

city in florida?

as far as gun friendly, provo, utah is like heaven.
I think Virgin, Utah or Kennesaw, Georgia may be slightly better- but neither are big cities.

DC is probably the best example that you can use.

washington dc? is gun friendly? didnt know that.

and there is a brand new cabelas just outside provo. :)

Vermont has the country's laxest gun laws. Any non-felon over 18 may purchase and carry concealed any type of handgun with no permit or registration required. Under VT state law, the penalty for putting an unregistered suppressor on said firearm is a $5 fine (Federal law is far more severe). Very gun friendly. Check the stats for Burlington, then compare those numbers to DC (adjusting for population density).

Check out More Guns, Less Crime by John Lott. He approached the issue as an economist without a vested interest in the outcome. Awesome statistics and figures.

Alright guys Ive done my speech thanks for all the help, I did excellently! I'd love to show you guys my power point presentation and tell you my attention getter, however i dont know how to post the slides on here if you guys can help me do it (if its possible) you surely will not be disappointed

Congrats on your speech. Maybe you could post the powerpoint file on a website and put a link on your post to the website so that we could check it out. I don't think it is possible to upload the file here on the forum though.

Well fdd19, the ball is in your court now. Looking forward in seeing the presentation.

BTW, thanks victory for your great suggestion.

John Lott needs to be dumped from the list of pro gun sources. His credibility took a nosedive for, well, making stuff up. Whether he has a vested interest in the subject is debatable. However, it seems beyond doubt that he has a strong enough bias to have put much of his research into question.
