I went to a gun and knife show in Denver today, and came up with a real winner. On one of the tables with mostly cheapo knives I found a NIB Buck 501 Squire with stag scales for just $35. Great piece of work! Fit, finish, sharpness, quality of stag all exceptional. Goes real well with my 532 and Pete's Custom 110!

Thanks, Joe. The "good deal" aspect of this is good, but I would consider the money well-spent if I'd paid several times as much. This knife is drop-dead gorgeous! Fit, finish, and polish are as near perfect as one could hope for, and the stag is by far the best I've ever seen. Congrats to you and Buck for producing some of the best quality knives in the world.

Congradulations, GronK!

I was at a gun and knife show a couple of weeks ago, and I saw a 532 in a display case, and the price was 55.00. My heart skipped a beat, and I asked to look at it. When the dealer pulled the box out of the case, I saw a "1" creep into view in front of the "55". My self-imposed limit for the show was $50, (but I would have spent $55 on this knife, easy) so I just got to look at it.

I did see a nickle silver 112 that was only $25, but someone had done a poor job of modifying the bolsters with a rough file or dremel too. It was nearly ruined.

The old "hidden price tag" trick. It happenned to me this weekend too. Saw an old Marbles Ideal with the tag partially hidden. It was among several lesser knives priced under $50, and seemed to be priced at $30. When I asked to see it, the other "0" showed up. Oh well.

Ron,
Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated.
At least you guys are seeing knives you like at shows. I collect the hand made Buck knives from pre 1961 and the last time i saw one at a show, the $500 i hoped to pay turned into $1500! Oh well, i know the bargains are out there to find.
Take care,
