I have a question for the experts.

I have a Severtech that I would like to have Gun Koted. The Brownelles version says you bake it at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

Will the baking affect the temper on the blade? The other thing is I am a retard and the idea of taking apart an automatic knife freaks me out.

Any ideas?

No, it won't hurt the blade hardness.
But why would you want to paint your knife? The paint won't hold up on the blade.

Re: automatic knives
If you must take it apart I have read that a good idea is to do it inside a plastic bag (like a zip-lock) and not with the blade under spring tension if possible. That way when the spring does go flying it won't get lost. Any knife that you are not familiar with, get out you camera and take a shot each time you are going to remove anything. Your head can get sore scratching it as you wonder where or how does this thing go back together.
There is no substitute for experience. :D
