I've been needing to get myself a small bag to take to the gun range. It should have some type of organization, so its not just an empty bag I toss everything into, and be able to hold my handgun (HK P2000sk), my 2 extra magazines, a couple boxes of ammo, my earplugs, and a couple of cleaning tools like my boresnake and rem-oil. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Google "Uncle Mike's Deluxe Range Bag" and have a look. You can lock the zippers together for transport and it has plenty of pockets and storage.

I have one from Dillon that's held up very well (often overstuffed) for many years.

I'll second the Midway range bag. I love mine. They have a few different sizes and are priced very well. Mine has served me well for three years and still looks like brand new. My cat also loves it and thinks that its the best cat bed ever. :p

Thanks everyone, these are excellent suggestions and almost all are exactly what I'm looking for as far as size and capacity are concerned. I'll give these all a look and hopefully decide on one :)

Eagle Industries is really good stuff. I'm looking at one of the E&E bags from Natchez myself. The Dillion and MidwayUSA have served me well too. However, MidwayUSA shipping charges have really turned me off lately.

I like the Bug Out Bag from LA Police Gear. Lots of pockets for gear, and the main compartment has a divider.
That section perfectly holds two of LAPG's soft-sided pistol cases, or one case and assorted gear/ammo/etc.

Of course, no range bag is complete without a Μολὼν λαβέ zipper pull. :D

Another vote for the midway bag, no reason to fill it if it does not need to be, but its a bag that CAN swallow a crap load of stuff, mine is the 5.11 but identical to the midway bag, I have loaded it up so much my back hurt trying to pick it up, but it held fine. This photo is a few years old, but you get the point.

If you want something low key-modular-and-thrifty, check out used Tamrac photography bags. I got mine a few years back for $5 on Craigslist. A well made bag that's held up to moderate abuse without any trouble. It's lugged ammo, guns, sand bags, spotting scopes, etc. with ease.
