Hi guys. I am looking for a gun safe to keep my Glock 19, a few mags and some ammo inside. Nothing huge and expensive. Just something small i can keep under a dresser or in a closet etc. What do you guys use and what did you pay for it? Any good sites/places to buy 1 of these?

Anyone tried this safe?

Not looking to spend more than $80 including shipping on this. Would rather buy it in a store but if online is the only option, then so be it.

Thanks

First off make sure you secure it to the floor.
Yep, I was going to echo this statement. If I were a burglar, that little safe under the bed would only provide an enticing opportunity for a Christmas morning surprise, once I got it back to my burglar's lair and had time to crack it open with my angle grinder.
Make sure your safe is *secured* to the floor.

It depends if you are just trying to keep children away from the gun or if you are trying to secure it from theft.

For a child, it would probably work.

For a burglar, not good protection. If you get this one, bolting it to the floor would provide a good anchor for prying the door. One or two tries should be enough for this one to pop open. To maximize security on this one with the least additional $$, maybe drill about a 1/2" hole through the back, put a 1/2" eye bolt through it (with washers before the nut), attach about 3' of chain to the bolt and anchor the other end of the chain to the floor. That way, it's not a rigid anchor to assist him in working on it there, and it's still anchored to the floor to delay him in taking it.

It's still just a delay, not a prevention.

The only problem with both those safes i listed is that each time u press the keypad, it beeps. I wish it didn't. Also the keypad doesn't have a back light so in the dark it might be a little difficult to push the numbers in especially in a stressful situation but it can be done.

Google DAC Sportsafe. They are great for quick access and keeping your pistol safe from the kids. You can program the buttons to be silent or audible and operating it in the dark should be no problem since the buttons are laid out right where your fingers are.

Ya mainly for my 2 boys ages 7 and 9.

i use a similar one (probably made by same manufact.): stack-on mini storage vault; $70. if it's primarily to keep the kids out it's more than fine. you'll still have the option to bolt it down somewhere. for what it is it's hefty enough.

i like that the keyboard beeps; i didn't get it for stealthy openings.

Anyone ever disable the speaker system on this thing so it doesn't beep? It beeps loudly lol

Like the sound of "racking" a 12 Ga. pump shotgun, those beeps coming from your gun safe are sure to scare away any crooks.;)

If you own your own place you could build a false wall at one end of a closet. Also the floor or floor boards. Main thing here is do it right so it doesn't show and don't blab about it to anyone.
