Hi All,

I paid a visit to the worlds smallest gun show today on my way to work (hope I don't get into trouble posting this from work...dangerous weapons and all, but I had to share). As always not much of anything...this place has maybe 100 tables tops. most everything is more than what you can find it for brand new in a store and not second hand.

One guy had a few old Buck knives.....2 Kalinga's and a flap over...maybe 102 or 105...never got that far. JB ask's how much for the Buck knives'? He said which one...LOL..I think there are only 3 (tell me your price).

So I played the game and point to the 1st Kalinga. He said "That's a kalinga very rare, they don't make them any more". I open the sheath and pull it out the blade is badly damaged where someone has ground out a chip in the blade at the rear of the blade and removed half the width of the blade:eek: (POS thinks I) "$75" said the seller. "WHAT" I said...."It's been customized and it's a skinner now" said the seller:rolleyes:. I said the "Kalinga model is a skinner this one has been damaged beyond repair".....NO, "it's custom". I pick up the other Kalinga and the blade on this one has been sharpened on a grinder to the point it's about half of what it once was. "$75" said the seller:thumbdn:....I did not even bother to look at the flap over.

In all there were about four guy's selling Buck knives. Some old and abused and some over priced new ones. One Guy who is always there selling some nice new knives always has some LE's and always over priced. But, today he had a custom 110 that was just to cool to pass on. As we haggled on the price he dropped it into my price range.

Custom 110, Mastodon Ivory, Turquoise, Engraved Bolsters

now that is sweet great combo of materials and I really like the creative filework

JB, now that's a great looking custom 110...:thumbup::thumbup: ... You did good at the gun show this time... Do you know who did the work on it???

Beauty! Wish I'd seen something along those lines at the show I went to yesterday. Very few Buck's, mostly beaters. There was one Kalinga, but it was worth it's weight in gold (according to the seller). I passed.

All I ended up with was a new magazine for one of my .380's and a really nice Anza.

That guy is at every gun show I go to...Sometimes it's knives; sometimes shotguns; sometimes pistols...They're ALL customized...or rare...or no longer made...or were owned by Himmler's mistress' drivers' second cousin... :grumpy::rolleyes:

The same guy or one of his clones!:D

Yep,

I think this one is a keeper also and thanks for the comments.

Armand, The seller said that it was worked on by two different folks. One did the bolsters and the other did the file work and the inlays....But, he could not remember their names :(...old age...LOL.

Richard & Dave, I seem to run into these guys at every show also. Maybe they were used car salesmen at some point in their past...I think we should rig a portable camera to our shirts and tape these guys comments...what a hoot that would be;).

Dave, this show was in Vallejo. Ever sense they tried to (and did for a while) stop gun shows in CA, all of the local gun shows here suck (within 50 miles). The one's that used to be at Cal Expo were great with about 1500+ tables. Now at the same location it's down to maybe 200 - 400 tables. The old Expo shows would take 2+ hours to walk and look.....now maybe 15 minutes. I wished I lived in So Cal or TX...I'm sure the politics have not ruined your shows.
