Hey All,
I went to the Del Mar Gun Show today to meet with Barry Dawson. He modified a pre-purchased #98 Victory Utility Fighter from Bead Blast w/ paracord to Satin Finish with black stingray with braided cord over wrap. This was to take delivery, and save the 10 buck shipping.
Anyway, I always take some trade booty with me in the event that I can swap for something I like. Not a lot of knife dealers there to begin with. I find one guy, he's got a whole case of Voorhis knives that I like, specifically a black micarta handles Big Bear style subhilt for $600. I ask him if he does trades, he says maybe.
I pulled out:
an Irie AMK worth $100
a Hossom Damascus hunter worth $700
a W.C. Johnson Subhilt worth $400
a Dawson worth $175.00
He never heard of any of these makers except Irie and Dawson, and that is only 'cause Dawson does the show regularly. The guy passes on all, doesn't even offer a counter trade involving money, which convinces me that he is amateur, and so be it, but it makes me yearn for the Puyallup show in WA that I worked at selling knives for my business.
That show has no end to good deals.
Just wanted to vent, I feel much better now.
Best Regards,
STeven Garsson
