Came back from the Kankakee, IL gun show with a genuine, no bullshit, Civil War Era, Colt 1861 Navy. Low serial number, built in 1861. No finish remaining and needing hammer notch work as well as a proper barrel wedge(the one in there was made from a piece of brass stock). All matching numbers, good bore and clear cylinder and nipples!
Gun was on a dealers table in a box for a reproduction revolver of slightly different type. Dealer thought it was a messed up reproduction gun!

Traded him a plastic S&W 9mm (sv9e) for it and a I got a Police Positive Colt built in 1911 to Boot!

Feelin' good:)

It's chambered for 38 COLT NEW POLICE ( 38 S&W)
I also have a COLT POLICE POSITIVE SPECIAL IN .32 (LONG OR SHORT)
I like "em.....they are nifty
I like old dogs and old guns and watermelon wine

Also bought for cash, a minty Remington Nylon 66 Black Diamond with the rare matte black receiver cover...very, very late production I think. It seems to have 1988 date code, and the guy I got that from says he is bringing me a Savage 101 single shot pistol (wanted one when I was a kid for the trap line, NOW 50 YEARS LATTER MIGHT FINALLY SCORE ONE!).

I used to have two of the Nylon 66, one black with the chrome receiver cover and one all black. Bought one at Venture and one from Jim Kauz gun shop.

I used to attend every gun show within a 2 hour drive. Now I might go to 1 a year at the most. The good days like you experienced became less and less common and the "experts" spreading their version of factual information along with overpriced merchandise pretty much took the fun out of it. The last show I went to I carried a Winchester in 300 Short Mag that had a Leupold VX-III mounted. One dealer asked to see my gun then asked how much. He had a similar rifle on his table without a scope and showing more wear. I looked at his pricetag then offered him my rifle and scope for the same price. He shook his head and said there was no way he could pay close to that.

Very cool finds! I love going to gun shows and being able to trade away or find those hidden items you’ve always wanted

I used to enjoy going to gun shows. The one Brad went to was one of the better ones.

The Savage 101 pistol showed up! CLEARLY UN-TACTICAL!

"My" first handgun in about 1973 and I was seven at the time (my, times have changed). It was really my Dads but I used it more and had a very active imagination about all the things I could do with it (think Ralphie in A Christmas Story)...

Unfortunately, I have no idea what became of it but thanks for the blast from the past.
