Hey guys, I went to a Gun and Knife show today and found a whole lot of old slippies in a little bin, $5 a piece. Two Imperial Barlows, a Colonial, and one marked STAG Ireland. And then there's a Case Sodbuster, a Schrade Walden Sailor's knife (?), and a STAG TL-29.

Here, take a look:

So what do ya guys think? The Soddie is brand new, the rest are far from it. But at that price point, I can't complain! :D

Wow! For $5 each those were all great deals. I haven't been to a gun show in ages, finding them to be a waste of my time and the money for the entry fee, but maybe I need to rethink my position.

Nice score!

Jc57 I'd say they are worth a shot. Shows in the Sunshine State always have a good amount a tables with a bunch of traditionals. I have no doubt there are some gems to be had for someone with a keen eye.

I feel like they probably would be a waste, however I was lucky enough to find a gun show thst was also a knife show. If it were just guns, I more than likely wouldn't have found this haul! :)

Guns and ammo have gone through the roof, I'm glad I like to shoot .22s and my .410. Lots of gun dealers have folders sitting there that just need some TLC. Great haul man!

That's a really nice haul. Those barlows should clean up nicely! And that sodbuster, well that's just a steal! That must have been a pretty good day for you :D

I do have my "nit-picks", like the Soddie had a really gritty Action and some blade play, but the action can be fixed.

I love these knives though, just the way they are :)

Is the one on the far right a Schrade Walden 176 (florist knife)?
LOVE those.
You paid 1/7th what I did for mine.
Nice work.

And an added bonus......you have a project to work on the rest of the day cleaning up your loot! I love to restore neglected knives.

Nope, tang reads 175 :)

And yes it's great!

....except that it doesn't snap closed :(

175 is what I meant. Shame about the snap on your example. I assume you have tried flushing the joint with WD-40 and oiling with 3-in-1.

Here's mine:

Yes, the action is nice and smooth after I oiled it. I just wish it snapped when closing, and it sits very proud when closed.

But, at least it has a good snap when opening

You might try fixing the play by clamping the bolsters in a vice and tightening it softly? Of course with some cloth in between the vice and bolsters to ensure you don't make scratches on 'em. Works for me . Just take it slowly. Tighten it down a tiny bit, take it out of the vice, test for play, put it back in, tighten it again very slightly,...repeat until it's gone.

Thanks for the tip!
