I went to a gun show yesterday that had more knives than guns. Were more Bucks than I have seen at gun shows in the past.

Was one big 317 two blade folder that was in nice shape, just needed a little polishing. Guy was firm on $75. I passed.

A used 121 three liner in a flap over sheath was $35. Having several 121's I passed on that one as well.

One guy had three 110's. Couple of old two dots that he, or someone had taken a buffing wheel to and semi polished the blades. Told him they would have brought more to a collector had they been left alone. Wanted $40 ea. Then he had a brand new one that he tried to tell me was brass plated on the bolsters instead of solid brass.

Saw a couple of 120's in sheaths for $95 ea.

Were other miscellaneous old ones that appeared nib that I didn't ask about. A 170, a 175, and some newer ones. Even saw a 106 axe but didn't ask the price.

Was interesting that there are knife dealers out there still sitting on nib old Bucks.

Overall, prices seemed kinda high on the knives, as did prices on guns. The gun guys appear to be doing some gouging from what I saw in previous shows. And the ammo prices were just stupid. they may not realize that ammo is starting to show back up on store shelves.

It is strange, but there are two shows in town this weekend, so headed off to the other one now. This is the larger of the two so will be interesting.

Will let ya know if I find anything I just can't live without.:D

and no.....wern't any orangies :(

I've pretty much quit going to the gun shows in my area. The sellers all seem to think their stuff (guns, knives, etc.) is worth it's weight in gold. I know that they expect you to deal on their stuff, but when the starting price is so ridiculous, I won't even bother.

In NY there are few guns shows anymore ( at least on Long Island). The few that I still go to have the same sellers selling the same over priced stuff that never ever sells. I have looked at shotguns that I have looked at for 4 to 5 years that get more beat up every time the seller takes them back and forth to sell. The knives are so high it makes me laugh, and the dealers are either all liars or the most miss informed knife guys there are anywhere.....

most the gun show knife guys are pro sellers and need to sell to max money
many of them will quote evil e as what common stuff sells for that there..
if they are firm and puffed up on how much it is worth
i tell them "no it dont or you would have sold it on ebay already!"
and walk away...for most tables it is buyer beware!

now that said
you can find tables of knolagable dealers were
collectors can find things at shows you wont find else ware
larry O is one such seller

I collected old Winchesters and Colts for quite a few years. I would go to every gun show in Oregon and Washington. They were a lot of fun 8-10 years ago, but then every amateur that had a gun would rent a table and put rediculous prices on them. The bad thing was most of them weren't even well educated in what they were selling....
Haven't been to one for probably over 4 years.

I have had some success at gun/knife shows but it takes perserverance and focus. Most of the really good deals are from tables with just a few knives amongst guns or other things.
Also, it can pay off to stop and take a look through the "anything for $5" tables. I have found jewels mixed in with the cheap crap. That being said, though, I went to one yesterday which was a complete bust.

It has gotten that way around here also. It has been 3 years since I went to a show. I used to think I had to go everytime one was in the area.

Once in awhile I still go with an old buddy of mine just because he asks me to go with him. Sometimes I pick up some ammo if I find a deal, but that's all.

there are not many gun or knife shows around here..
not that i have time to make them,,
in fort worth and baton rouge i used to go all the time ..
miss them i do

The last gun shoe that I went to was early this year, found a three line 120 cramed into a 119 sheath. Any other knives that I found I could not get the dealer to even look at me, or they had ridiculse prices on them. As I was leaving, I checked out an antique show at the same location, and found a three dot 110 in decent shape in the wrong sheath. They had a basket on their table full of knives. It was in there. Had to check each knife out to make sure there was nothing else that I might have missed. HL

I'm back. No knife news other than the show yesterday was better as far as knives (Buck) go. Ones today were regular dealers getting full retail for tables full of most all brands other than Buck.

Were just some miscellaneous Bucks scattered throughout the show. Nothing that jumped up and grabbed me.

Did find a couple of guns that I was interested in that met my criteria of at least being able to get my money back should I not like them. One of them I might even make a little on. The other one was a good deal because of the extras it came with, in addition to the price.

At least it was fun.....

Larry, Did you see any Large Rifle Primers???

How about a $10:00 kalinga?:D

Never saw a kalinga...lol

Not into reloading, so wasn't looking at that stuff, but there was a lot of it, scattered around.

Son in law has a bunch of reloading stuff that someone gave him, he has been talking about selling it off, he sure isn't going to use it.

But if he has any primers... probably old and exposed to humidity and such. The powder he has probably wouldn't ignite...

What did you buy??? :D

I'm still debating a Colt .32 "Pocket Pistol" (think Alan Ladd in "This Gun For Hire")...I bought the Savage .32 auto... ;)

I saw a Colt .32 today, but didn't pay it a lot of attention. Was laying alongside a seecamp... Didn't even ask the price.

I had been thinking about upgrading my P3AT to a P11 and found one of those with an IWB holster and two extra magazines, one held 12, the other two, 10. Was so lightly used that no bluing was gone off the barrel, and less than a new one counting those magazines at $35 ea.

and then here come de judge, here come de judge. A guy had one that was also so lightly used that you couldn't tell it had been fired. Is one of the ultra lights. Is only the 2 1/2 incher but that is ok too. I only plan on using the 2 1/2's in it, but went ahead and picked up a box of LC's.
That box of 20 LC's 230 gr was $30... ouch.... Well,, also got a box of 20 corbon 300 gr that nailed me for $40 :rolleyes:

Dayum them are some huge rounds. I am not looking all that forward to shooting those, but shouldn't be much diff than the 2 1/2 inchers. Got a 5 pack of those in 000 Buck.

and a knife side note here, I am glad I got into Bucks and not some of that other crapola I looked at today....ugh....

Sounds good to me...I snagged an Ithaca Mod 37 12ga last year for under $200...

Do you reload 334dave??? I do, but haven't had time the last 3 or 4 weeks...Working on knives again...Having to make the fixtures to hold the knives takes up way too much time... :(

The Winchester and Ithaca both sound like great deals at those prices. I have one Winchester and four Itacas and they are all great rifles.
