Sent this to Darrel after using it, with fluff and names cut out.

I used it to field dress a deer yesterday, and today I used it to skin and quarter out the deer. I took 6 or so pics cuz thats all the film I had, I do not have a dig camera and will send you photos as soon as I get them developed and scanned.

As far as it goes the knife did great, the grip never failed even when soaked in blood and the ball bearings and spring have shown no failure or stickiness even though the knife was covered in blood. Of course the holes got filled with meat and blood but there holes thats to be expected. Edge retention has been great still very sharp and I have used it to do the entire deer, as well as EDC use. Though the blade was not designed for this kind of thing I wanted to see how it would do and it did great. The somewhat hook shape formed by the recurve does great for cutting meat and sinew and the front part of the blade did well while I was skinning it. I thought it would be awkuard to use but not at all it actually very nice to use it because of the blade design. Far from a skinning style I cannot say I prefer it over the deep belly skinner blade but the recurve I very much like and I did not miss my skinning blades at all while using it. Handle ergonomics are great and my hand never felt tired or felt wierd while using it.

In using it I am very happy I have it is the best folder i own and even though the pricetag would usually depict I not use it, that has gone out of my mind to how nice a knife it is and how much I do like to use it.

I have another hunt on Saturday and if you would like me to take some pics of me using the GH again I will be happy to, that is if I get another deer. . I will keep you posted on anything else i find on the knife as i know its a new design and I am sure you all would like the feedback, and *** and I will probably put the knife through more than the average buyer would but who knows. I probably shouldnt use it for field dressing as I do worry about the blood and stuff gettin into the spring and ball bearings but so far like I have already mentioned its not been a problem.

Darrels Response:

Please use the knife.
If you get blood in it soak it in hot water for a while blow it out and wd40 the knife.
Wipe it off and oil the bearings.
I really appreciate you using the knife and giving me feed back.
This is one way of making modifications that make the knife better and better .
You and **** are the best.
Please proceed with my blessing.
Can I post this on a forum?
OR better yet feel free to post it and post my reply.
I want everyone using my knives to feel ok about using them for real work!
Any pics would be appreciated!

When I get a dig camera hopefully for christmas I will post pics of myself using it to cut through hide and meat and some bone. I have not used it to bust through a pelvic bone yet but I also dont want to risk any blade chipping. I have full confidence in the knife but on the other hand its around a 700 dollar knife so I am not gonna risk it. I am happy to know that The maker of such knives stands behind his work even when buyers are doing things to his knives that arent neccessarily what their meant for, makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Well anyway I hope this review helps and i will keep you all on bladeforums posted on any further developments.

yeah I know your gettin one knifecollector and I know you wont be dissapointed. Silky smooth opening and the geometry of the blade is sweet. I really need a dig camera to get pics up here of mine.

Yes, I DO want to see yours!! I am wicked happy for you too!! I want to see yours, so I can live vicariously though you for GH ownership!! LOL!
