Gunmaker knives?

Just bought a S&W knife to go with a new pistol. I knew what I was buying but just wanted it for the matching set. It's the worst edge on a factory new knife I've ever seen. So.......are there any gunmaker knives out there that are worth a damn? Looking at the Sig and Beretta knives to match my pistols. Anyone have these?

Beretta imports some fairly nice Japanese knives. Browning also has some nice Japanese knives. Those are the only qualilty knives with firearm logos that I can think of. I own a couple of the Brownings.

I just picked up a Colt M4-k manual opener for $25 - made in Taiwan, but a very nice fit and finish for the price - it is in the safe with my Colt .45's...it is on par with my CRKT taiwan knives - I just may order the auto version next!

Who is making the Hk knives now?

Here's the S&W knife with a S&W 642....

The Beretta ones are surprisingly good considering they cost so little. I suspect the Browning ones are made along side the Beretta in Japan. F&F could be better and the lighter Lockbacks dont have much strength but I recently tested a folder and saw combo from Beretta (Fieldlight) and was quite surprised. No one is going to mistake it for a Sebenza but the grinds are good and they hold an edge very well.

hey Mojo - I was just looking at that sam knife on knifecenter.com for use as a beater on my annual camping trip next month - beside the edge (wich I will no doubt trash succsesfully every day!) is it worth the $36 bones?? Thanks!

Kevin, get that knife. It is a brute! 440c sharp, heavy, solid lock up, and comes w/ a decent sheath. I really like mine.

I picked up a browning small barracuda a couple months ago for $25. Really couldnt expect any 2 inch folder to be better. It is nearly as sharp as my delica, liner lock, and quite comfortable for being so small.

Ryan Wilson makes a nice knife and I believe he the son of Bill Wilson, the custom gunmaker behind Wilson Tactical. Not exactly what you were asking but close.

scholar - thanks for the heads up! At 11oz's it should take a beating!!!

I miss Tampa/St. Pete - wife and I lived there over 10 years, a few years on our boat before the kiddies..."I'll be back...!!!!!"
