On the other forum someone just pointed out that Boker, Spyderco's distributor in Germany, had posted an image of the Gunmetal Blue Almite Lum Chinese folder on its German website. Here is the photo:

I´m from germany, so I have that catalouge. it is limited to 300 pieces for whole Europe. Price is DM 369,-

But if you are interested in buying: be aware that in german forums there are voices saying that this model doesn´t have that coating on the grey handle (don´t know it´s name) the regular green one has.

that would be the Almite I think. those still sound like a good deal at about $170 US. wonder were the other 700 of them are going? the run was one of a 1000 pieces I thought.

Is it me, or is it more grey than blue?? I know its a gunmetal blue, but I thought it would lean more towards blue. Ahh, who cares, it is still sweet!

I always like the chinese folder when I see it on pics, but since the time I saw it in real, I always think: what a cool knive but way to small!

they should make the exact same knive a whole lot bigger!

There were 3 sizes of Chinese folder proto's. The first one produced was the middle child. There may be a bigger one in the future. Sal said in the past it depends on how well the middle one does. Maybe someday.

An early pic of the three protos. The blade shape on the production model is different even from the middle one, which is the closest to it.

OK people, time to chime in. Those prototypes are for sale.

Those are original Bob Lum handmade Chinese Folders. He still makes them in 3 sizes with various handle materials and blade steels. If the current Spyderco one is too small, and you don't want to gamble that Spyderco will make the larger one in a production model, you can always order one from Bob. Yes, it won't be a production model, and yes, it will be expensive, but it will be the size he is looking for.
