I didn't grow up with guns, nobody in my family hunts. I had 2 rifles when I was younger that I loved. I had a Ruger 1022 and a Marlin lever action 30-30. I only went target shooting with them and sold them once I had kids. Now I am sad. 
I would go to turkey shoots and I could make a bright orange painted egg swing from the wind at 100 yards but could never hit it. Other guys could, but I figured I was close enough if it mattered!
