It's been a great month for knives! First I scoop up a NIB Persian at a nice price and now I've found a NIB plain edge Gunting.

The Search function is broken at the moment so I just thought I'd ask:

I'm looking for a pocket holster and maybe also a belt holster for the Gunting. The one I'm getting is the slightly older design when they still had the 440V blades (I think the new ones are S30V) if that matters any but I don't think it will.

Any reccomendations or links?

P.S. Yeah I know they tweeked the design a little bit but I just really like the plain edge Guntings. :D

The sheath that Simona has posted is of superb quality. Highly recommended. See www.gunting-museum.com for a few other ideas and accessories. There is even a video clip of how the pocket rocket works.

Good stuff there. Check it out.

Those are very nice kydex holsters. Gary Graley makes the best folder sheath in leather I have ever seen. I have one for a SERE 2k. However, I know his backlog gets very long and you would have to remove the clip for one of his sheaths.

On the other hand BF's own Vess makes what look like very nice leather sheaths in a variety of options and will allow the clip to stay. Here is his website.

BTW, Gary's website can be found here.

And if you are wondering who that super-fly S2K sheath on the site belongs to, its mine! :)

Good call on Vess's sheaths. I have 2 horizontal and one vertical from him. Top notch.

Thanks sir! Glad to hear you're still putting that to good use.
Long lead times are too much of a problem, it's the winter break that I take to give back the kitchen to the wife that makes it a bit of a wait, right now I'm slavin' away with a slew of Bali sheaths, it's the year for the Bali right now for me! ;)

As to clips, depending on position, I can form around them, Vess's work looks great too! Very sharply formed, nice work! There are several great leather workers on the forum that could help you, it was once almost a dying art but good to see others getting the passion to press leather! I've always tried to share what I know, spread the knowledge and hope that others get the urge to try their hand at leather work, lots of work for everyone. As long as they keep making knives, we'll be at the ready :)

Old leatherworkers never die, they just leave a lasting impression

Those are all some really sweet belt rigs... I'm having a hard time choosing!

Does anyone know of another pocket rig? I really want to get one of each to cover a variety of situations.

Edit: I meant to say another pocket rig. I'm intrigued by the ones on the Gunting Museum site and want something else to compare them to.

Hehe yeah that's why I want both a belt and a pocket rig... the best carry method seems to be a belt rig but I can't always wear a knife openly.

For those who have a Vess sheath, does the knife fit in securely or is it held in purely by gravity?

The knife is in there pretty good and takes a tug to get it out. It's not going to fall out under 99% of physical activities. I've never even seen mine work it's way out a bit.

Michael Sastre of River City Sheaths does excellent work. He tends to use thicker material, which means you get a sturdier sheath. Fit is really good, and he stands behind his work.

If a dealer has what you want in stock, you may get it sooner then you would if you ordered from Mr Sastre, he is pretty busy. On the other hand, he is a great guy to deal with.
