Gunting vs Escalator

Just how different are these 2 knives? Apart from the hole and the lock I mean!
Does the Gunting represent a next stage of evolution or is it a "rebadged" REKAT? Don't get me wrong, am looking forward to the Gunting as much as the next Spydernut, merely curious

I think it's an evolution -- changes in the blade geometry, the horn, the handle and the addition of "divot" (indentation) on the handle and clip for grip changes.

I am very intrigued by the compression lock. I think folks are going to like it. But time and use will bear this out or not.

Ferret: the Gunting is the next evolution in my design of Kinetic knives. I have shelved the Escalator for now..It is a non existent knife...REKAT is not involved with making my knives anymore...The Escalator was not rebadged to be a GUNTING.
The GUNTING is a new engineered knife with totally new geometry..
The R& D team at SPYDERCO worked with me to make the knife as I first envisioned it with some vey cool evolutionary upgrades...
( stuff that wasn't possible with the first model due to production restraints)
As the hundreds who have been zapped with the new Gunting Proto type will tell you "it's a whole 'nother animal!"...
The handle was finished by Owen Wood..he helped me smooth out and proportion the Persian butt, The whole team helped with the spoon clip & indexing..The new compression lock is Vince & Sal..The blade is redone by me..and I revamped the whole design into a much better package..
The handle is longer and more ergonomic...
different feel and hold pattern..great for "Tomahawking" with it!
But check out the pictures!...
OK??
Or ask those that have used BOTH versions of my knife!

Ferret - I'm having a difficult time imagining "waiting harder". How does that look?

When we were shhoting the new Gunting Trilology, Andy W. and I both discussed how can I put this nicely how the Gunting blew away the Escalator. Yes I have been zapped by it - The funny thing is I like the CRIMP tool better. THe teeth on the thing make it alot easier to grab and hold on - and what a pinch!( we taught kids not to pinch - this knife encourages it!) THe biggest thing is the lengthing of the handle. It makes it easier to hold - tomohawk strike and engauge from the kidex holster for quick draw. Mee too as far as getting one. Bram had to keep asking during the shooting -0k who has the prototypes now. He could have used a tracking device that weekend.

Sal, lets not go there!

Suffice to say that with Goerge's input I'm now bursting with excitement!

Sal, I've seen it and believe me it's not a pretty sight. The closest thing to it is the look my kids get when they suddenly realise that they needed to use the bathroom half an hour ago

. Just try to imagine Ferret all hunched over with his little face all screwed up

Darn it, he posted before me

. What are you doing up so early anyway Ferret?

Thanx clay, I've got a visual.

The "Escalator" was a good first model. We learned a great deal and as a result, were able to improve on some of the concepts. that's pretty normal. I would say REKAT did an excellent job of getting the project going. Without it, we would not have been able to produce the "Gunting".

Comparing the two would be like comparing the first Clipit "Worker" to the "Delica". Not really a fair comparison. REKAT was already refining the model when we purchased the design.

"All good, just different".

Can anyone recommend tomohawk training videos - I have only seen Comtechs. Are there othere available? Thanks.
