I just put up a review of the Gunting in the Reviews forum, if you're interested.

Fuller:
Try Knife Center of the Internet in College Park Md. WWW Knifecenter.com I have delt directly with them on a number of occasions and they are great people. They don't have a retail outlet but if you call ahead you can go to the site and they will deal direct with you. Great people to deal with.

You can try www.Chesapeakeknifeandtool.com
they have a store in the big mall that is off of 7 Locks rd. above Bethesda. I believe it's Democracy Blvd. I know they are a Spyderco dealer, and carry higher end knives. They are also pretty good at matching internet prices. E-mail me if you can't find them. Good luck

USAFSP, I was at the Chesapeake store in Springfield Mall yesterday. It is staffed by some very good knife enthusiasts and they had never even heard of the Gunting, so I doubt that I'll see it there any time soon.

R.D. Hatch, I have tried KnifeCenter. They don't have them and don't know when to expect them.

I tried the Spyderco.com locate a dealer function and the nearest dealer that they gave me was Corky's down in Woodbridge, VA, some 46-50 miles down I-95 towards Richmond. I called there and he said that they have been on order for some time and he expects them any time, but.......

But, hey guys, thanks for your suggestions. I got one from the guys at Chesapeake K&T, Executive Hardware. Do any of you know where it is?

I work for Chesapeake Knife and Tool and am sorry to say that the Gunting is not something they will be carrying. I was upset because I wanted to try one out. Oh well. Good luck finding one and let me know if you do. Thanks. -Lev

Thanks for the info, Lev. Any word as to why not? Lord, when I look at some of what they carry, saying that it is too defense oriented just does not carry water. Maybe you might want to email me. My addy is hughf_us@yahoo.com

FullerH,

I'm not close to you but if you are serious about the Gunting I believe we can work out a test drive. I have a good supply on hand and could afford to be without one for a week without effecting a customer.

email me at bladebroker@email.com and we can work out the particulars. It may sound like I'm going out on a limb here but I would be very surprised if you wanted to return it.

The caption really says it all. Where in the area of Washington, DC may I go to look at and handle a Gunting? I am very interested, but I would really like to see and handle one before I buy it, as it is really a radical design that I would like to try on for size, so to speak.

Well, Terry Prichard, fourcycle, made me an offer I couldn't refuse so I ordered a Gunting from him today. I hope that it works out for my rather peculiar needs. You see, I am not a martial artist nor am that much into self defense, remember that I am a Quaker, but I have very arthritic hands and I spend a great deal of time in Washington, DC, with its stupid 3" blade limit. This means that I need a large handled, comfortable knife with a 3" blade and the Gunting appears to fill the bill. The extra large openning hole is an extra that I like as well as the big hump. Ugly it may be, but I hope that it will meet my needs as a city utility knife, if a rather peculiar one. I'll keep you posted.

Hugh,

I think you'll really like it. The handle is one of the best out there, IMO. I love the smaller blade/larger handle feel for utility work.

Waiting for your review.

Oh yeah, Terry is a pretty great guy too. Is he riding out to meet ya?

Steve
