Hello folks, I've been looking around and can't seem to find anything on this blade as far as steel type goes throughout the various generations of its making. I'm mainly looking at the satin bladed Gurka Kurki Plus but not the newest model.

Do you still dabble in Kukri's and why did you part with it? Was it too short of a blade too heavy just not your cup of tea? I'm curious if you've moved on to custom Nepalese Kukri's longer blades ect. ect or what? Thank you,

I also had one of their standard Kukri's, the one without the handguard, and liked it better. So I sold the Kukri Plus. Nothing wrong with it, just preferred the standard model, I still have it.

That's cool, I've also looked at those in Carbon-5 online and they want quite a bit for one these days. I wouldn't mind having the plus in O1 and grind the guard down on it to my liking. Right now, I'm also looking at the custom Nepalese models from different makers.

Just watched a couple of videos online about the new 4034 steel and both participants doing the videos said good things about it. The one guy mentioned it lost its hair popping edge kind of fast, but he sharpened it up in a couple of passes fairly quickly. I wish it was in 3V for the price though, but KC has them for well under 2 bills.

I just ran across a couple of broken SK 5 versions online that had Hugh chunks out of them. One guy mentioned it was from from battening with it. I believe the other guy mentioned hardwood chopping. I also read about a O1 model that just broke off at the handle from chopping. I'm not so sure I really want one now if their that bad.

Maybe the carbon V models are better I'm not sure but haven't seen or heard of one broken yet and I've been looking pretty hard online every where. I think the flat grind doesn't help matters either maybe CS should have gone with a saber grind. I may end up with a Busse or custom Nepalese model in 5160.
