Gurkha Kukri steel identification

Can anyone tell me what kind of steel this is? It's a used Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri for sale on ebay right now, on the ebay page it says it's aus 8. I messaged the seller and now he says it's probably sk5. I didn't think these were ever made in aus 8, so I dont think it's that. Is there any way to tell if this is sk5 or O1?

Most likely SK-5. I believe the O1 knives are marked as such.

Don't think they ever offered any of the kukris in AUS8A...closest would have been the ATC back in the 90s that was normally Carbon V but was also available in 400 Series Stainless.

I have the "Plus" model in O1 and it is marked as such . Great chopper !

aus8 gurhka kukri is a plain fake.
