Gurkha Major Tikendra Dal Dewan, chairman of the British Gurkha Welfare Society, said: “What we are talking about here is the honing of those skills to make them more effective. It is no good using it like a hammer; the khukri has to be used with delicacy.”

Boy i sure would like to sign up for the class! Khuk- kata!

In 2010, a private from the 1 Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles narrowly avoided being prosecuted for war crimes after using his knife to decapitate a dead Taliban insurgent in Helmand province.
Old news but he can't possibly have a mili-sec to extract a DNA..

Speaking of which...

This image is going through my head of an immaculate British officer, instructing his recruits "The proper form for attack with the khukuri involves extending the right pinkie, as in tea with the duchess."

As for me, I'll not be standing still in front of a farmboy from the hills of Nepal, intent on weilding his khukuri like a hammer.

I'm right there with ya Mr. Wallace. You go left and I'll go right but I'm definitely seeking life elsewhere. The farmboy most likely knows how to swing that sharp hammer.

Thanks Jay!

Aint that the truth! :D

I had, but cant find an article from ww1, in which officers greatest problem {& possibly strengh} with Gurkhas was once they started a kukri charge in battle, no amount of ordering would stop them from finnishing what they had started.

For the same reason today only one Gurkha has ever succesfully served in the SAS. Once they start, they tend to go into a red mist zone & forgot evrything else.

Just the blokes for hand to hand I think!
