I finally bought a house after years of renting.....I have my own mancave for all my knives, cigars, and little things that seem to be drawn to me. AND now........a hurricane is threatening it.

It is a great place.....I have plenty to chop, and a detached 3 car garage/shed.....future site of workshop.:thumbup:

The wife asked me yesterday why all my knives were out of their display cases....well, if I HAVE to evacuate, they're coming with me. I would have shipped them out (because I know you Hogs are a kind bunch and would have looked after them till I got back:D) BUT the Post Office was closed yesterday.

Any Hogs that may get hit...Be Safe.

Take Care and be safe. The family and I are getting as ready for it as we can. No one thought that Katrina would bother us all that badly here in Central MS, but boy were they wrong. NO ONE was prepared.

This time we are all a bit more prepared and are watching it closely.

Take Care and Safe trip.

All that stuff can be replaced, get north and be safe, ... Even here in Canada they are calling Gustav a monster.

Will send prayers your way, Jason. Hope you and the family will be safe. Oh, and the blades, too, of course!

Jason,

Just saw the news and it is looking like it is gonna be bad....stay safe and if you need a place to send your blades...I will take very good care of them:D

STAY SAFE!!!

Jason, I'm not precisely sure where your house is, but the latest satellite tracks don't look good.

Please get out and stay safe. Knives are just pieces of steel.

Take care Jason, we're praying for you guys.

If it turns out you have to skip town, you know how to get to my place and you're welcome here (knives and all!)

Taking a break from Hurricane Prep...just trimmed some oak branches that were over hanging the bedrooms. Sorry folks.....the Battle Mistress wasn't going to handle these (in a timely manner).....but the NMFBM could have.;):D

Jason,
Stay safe and if you head north you have a place to stay with us. Just let us know if there is anything we can do

Eric

Good luck and prayers be with you Jason. Take care of the family my friend. My wife's cousin and his family make their home in Slidell. He is up here with us, on his way to see his mom way North of here, but he was saying that if you are North of 12 then you ought to be spared a good deal of the forces, but you know how these things can move and toss man's best laid plans to ruin. Stay safe brother.

Don't get the wrong idea.....we have some BOBs prepped, but I hate leaving. The state began "Contraflow" this morning in my area. Man, let me tell you...I would HATE to be stuck in that....I'm glad I travel backroads and not stuck with the folks from New Orleans!!!

Jason, be safe. Get the house prepped and get out of there. Cat 4 is nothing to fool around with. This one could get stronger still.

The other option, of course, is to select the sturdiest oak you can find, have your wife strap you to the tree, and battle the storm directly with a SHBM in each hand.

Man that sux that you just got moved in and have to leave it all...and wonder what it will look like when you return.

Just get some gone in ya before that thing hits tommorrow...don't wait, leave today man. Now there saying it may be a Cat 5 !

I know you prob have a place, but you're welcome to come stay here in NW GA if not. I have room for your clan.

Stay safe and take the family north if it looks like it might be bad.

Let us know if you are safe after the storm if you can.

Stay safe, people. Tropical storms are nasty stuff.

By the way, we don't have tropical storms in Finland. I suggest anyone who wants to make sure their INFI survives the ravages of such storms immediately ship their Busses to my address, insured of course, for safe keeping. :D

On the face of things, it sounds like a good plan. But who'd want to take the chance of famine, civil unrest, and rioting?

I'd hate to traumatize my knives by sending them into a riot zone. :p

It has been said that the last natural disaster to befall a European people took place in Finland at the end of the 1860s. The reasons for the disaster in question are to be found in the climate; summers were wintry and frosts destroyed the harvests in two consecutive years. Widespread famine ensued and the death rate rose temporarily to almost 80 per 1000.
