GuT Hooks

I wanted to see how you put a Gut Hook on a Knife?

i dont like the things myself but my best bud LOVES the things go figure lol.

I hate them b/c they are a PITA to sharpen.

If! I liked them and wanted one on a knife, I would do it before the blade has been tempered.

i cut the basic shape i want with a dremel and a carbide rotary file. then i finish it up with a grinding wheel in my dremel. i use a leather disc to sharpen a guthook.

I guys I use to give me ideas all said that I need a Gut hook. These guys Deer hunt like crazy. They said that 3.5 inch blade was a good size for them and the Gut hook is a must. So nothing ventured nothing gained. I will give it a try before the tempering.

If you like them, great...."a must", I think not.

3.5 inch blade is a great size for deer, but I have cleaned a lot of them, and never used a guthook nor felt that I would like one.

I know how I can fix them. Tell them for a Kool 100.00 I will put a Gut Hook?

I use one daily on heavy plastic and cardboard packing. It is easy to sharpen with a ceramic or diamond rod.
