i know this has been done to death, but here's a review of what i use as a replacement to the standard cord bail.
instead of making a wire version, that could be used as snare wire or a million other uses, i simplified, and just use an actually snare.
it's the small snare i carry and use trapping, and it's worked perfectly for this application for a long time now.
here are some pictures.
keep in mind, these are obviously built to pinch down as tight as you can pull them, so no real mods on the snare are needed. i losened them to show the principle.
if there are ppl really interested i'm sure it would not cost much for me to pop one in an envelope, but if there's too much interest then i may have to turn this into a giveway and bundle a few up with some other things.
i know i have been slow on the gun to post all my reviews and review updates, for that i apologize, but i am getting to them... slowly.

That's clever - you can make these very cheaply. Quick trip to the hardware store for steel cable, 2 clamps and a bent penny that you drill 2 holes in...

there are also other types of snares, haven't tried them out, cause the first one worked just fine. different synching mechanisms, and wire gauges and lengths and so on, here are a few sizes and types

Hey Northern, you made a very generous offer. I'm sure it's just been overlooked. I already have a similar rig for my guyot or I would take one for sure. Maybe I should get one to fit a Keel Kanteen!

That actually is really cool. What did you use for your L shaped piece? I would definitely take one. I have been thinking about getting into snaring and that looks like a good holder for my bigger water bottle.
