when it rains it pours!
i was in town on tuesday and decided to stop and visit my favorite pawn shop.
the same one that i picked up the mann crusier and sager chemical axe at a couple weeks ago.
i went in on tues. and he had a BOX full of old hatchets. i go in there from time to time and their is usually nothing. he said that a few days ago an old fellow came in with the box. they are all in damn near perfect shape.
so...tuesday i bought a TRUE TEMPER TOMMY AXE-NEVER USED-STILL HAS THE PLASTIC EDGE GUARD ON IT, I ALSO GOT AN OLD COLLINS HATCHET stamped CE, and an OLD COUNCIL TOOL HATCHET, all with original handles. their were also a few others...
an SLEPLEIGH HARDWARE 'FOR SPORTSMANS' hatchet (w/the duck w/ original handle in almost perfect shape (w/sheath) he wants 35 bucks for it).
an old PLUMP carpenters hatchet for 15 bucks.
and... several other small hatchets that are all in damn near perfect shape. it's pretty amazing really.
one of the 'mini' hatchets was a UNION TOOL.
i am honestly a bit confused; chances are that i will never come across such a 'stash' again.
in order to get these i would have to sell some...though i do not want to...
question is; do you fellows that buy/sell on flea bay think that i could break even and aquire some of these w/out going broke or getting divorced? i have never sold or bought anything off flea bay, so i am looking for advice... it's just that this guy has so many nice ones.
i think that the old fellow either collected them or had a relative that did.
i really like the slepleigh. it's a beauty...
i would appreciate any help. thanks.
btw; i've got the mann and sager cleaned up, i just have to get a handle for the sager and make sheaths for both then i'll post pics. their both are a real nice addition to my collection.
