Ever since seeing the Nutnfancy/Emerson interview I've been thinking about the Gypsy Jack, i was just captured by the shape of it and thought it looked cool, finally at the CA Custom Knife show this last weekend i had the opportunity to handle one. Usually i just go to my local Crack,,,i mean Blade dealer (Plaza) and handle the knives but they have not had any GJ's come in from Emerson. The Gypsy did not dissapoint and in fact i liked it even more after handling it, the GJ looks even better in person and just felt great in my hand! To my suprise the good folks at Plaza told me at the show that they had just got some in and well i didnt waste any time.

Once i got it home i completely broke it down

No defects, everything lines up, looks and works great, now for the break in period.

Glad you like it. Ive been pondering my next Emerson purchase...maybe Ill have to consider the Gypsy.

Thanks for the the pictures. Let us know how she performs. I've never seen the GJ, it will be my next Emerson.

The Gypsy is a pleasure to carry, i've been packing it almost everyday now. At work ive used it in the shop or when i'm out in the yard but not in the office, i have an office friendly alternative when among office staff.

The Gypsy has a long handle but seems to ride thin, it's a large knife but I can still easily get my hand all the way down to the bottom of my pocket, for me it just dosnt feel as big to carry as it might look. The G10 is very grippy so it's a little hard on Dockers/slacks but perfect for Jeans. Been riding my motorcyle with it a few times now and no problems with any slippage from the pocket, didnt move at all and my V twin can rattle a blade pretty good.
The Gypsy is one of the funnest knifes to open and fondle, i find myself pulling it out and flicking it as a pass time, the best way i could describe the GJ is too say that it's a really fun knife to own and is a very capable work knife (for me anyway). Like my other Emersons it came razor sharp, I have absolutly no issues or problems with f&f. So far the Gypsy has been great, comfortable (for it's size) to carry, preps preps food like a Ginsu and has excelled at any cutting task i've given it. No regrets so far...
