I have never messed around with any of the h-1 blades. I am think of getting an H-1 Delica for EDC. Do they get as sharp as the VG-10 steels and are as easy to sharpen on the Sharpmaker?

I assume you are referring to the Salt1 when you say H-1 Delica.

Yes, H-1 will take a very keen edge, and it is easier to sharpen than VG-10. The SharpMaker will work quite well for it. The edge-holding is not as good as VG-10 on the plain edge models, but it does better in serrated form. The SharpMaker can handle either edge type.

h1 is a pretty soft steel, and it needs to be used for a while, and that hardens it up. so when u get it, beat the crap out of it, and sharpen her back to shaving....and yes, they can get shaving sharp.
