While looking at my H-15s before selling them I noticed something etched on one of the blades.Opposite the tang stamp faintly etched is RBON TOOL STEEL.I guess this is CARBON TOOL STEEL.Under that is MBER U.S.A. I can't read the first part.Has anyone seen this before.Arnold

That's an easy one Arnold. Just pull up your photo archive and look at the Schrade Walden H-15 Sears SFO (not Craftsman, not Higgins, not Williams).

Yes, as a matter of fact there is. We just haven't seen it yet. Anyone have the Wonda-Edge version of the H-15 (H-15WE)? One marked for Penny's. Wards, Blue Grass, or Zylco? A DU version? And don't forget the two dive knives, the SD-40 Mariner and the SD-41 Frogman's Defender (the one with the knuckle guard).

Another question, did they coat these blades.I noticed that the one in the picture has the same problem mine does.It looks like it was coated with something like Everclear and it's flaked off.Arnold

Back in the days of yore, I asked the Schrade historian the same question about a 137WE I have that seems to be peeling. She wasn't sure, but suggested that maybe I was seeing the delamination of a STC varient, which it wasn't. The "TC" was Tungsten Carbide which was offered on some fixed blades fron the early '70s, though not listed as available on the 137 pattern. Or on the H-15 pattern. But that never stopped Schrade from making test runs. Anyway, the final answer is.... I dunno.

LT? Phil? Anyone? Did they clearcoat blades that you are aware of from 1959-75?
