For those of you that have H & B Forge tomahawks, would you be kind enough to post the actual head weight of your tool?

I am looking to purchase one of their camp hawks. The H & B website says that the medium camp hawk has a head weight of about one pound. They list the large at about one and a half pounds. However the reviews I’ve found seem to indicate the weights skew to the low side. Several on the medium indicate it’s closer to 3/4 of a pound. But that is a small sample size and they’re not giving specific measurements.

So it would be great if folks could share the actual measured head weight of their H & B hawks.

Thanks in advance.

Don't really want to bash them but I've been waiting on a hawk I ordered and paid for back on March 5th 2021. Correspondence by both phone and Email this past August and again in November stating delivery was soon. Been trying to call them the last 3 weeks , they don't pick up the phone and don't return messages or Emails. Everything I read about them was great but I'm getting pretty frustrated! Good luck.

Get a Cold Steel to hold you over while-U-wait 😁

It's not bashing to report current lead times. It's an important thing for other hawk shoppers to know in order to inform their decision making process.

Am I fine with a year long wait or should I shop for something else?

The problem is they advertise as 16-20 weeks! I get it Covid is here and it's screwing things up. Twice I've had them tell me it's going out in a few weeks, once in August and then November. The lack of return email or nobody picking up the phone is a red flag!

Return phone call received from H&B forge and my hawk is in hand. W wantillesr3 I will gladly weigh the head and take measurments for you, as long as they let me out of work at a decent hour!😁 If not tonight by the weekend.

I unfortunately could not get the head of the handle tonight, I'll keep trying.

Hey there,

The heads on these are press fit and per a phone call I had with H&B they need serious pounding with a mallet and vice, and/or they might loosen up over time with lots of use.

I decided not to keep trying to take mine off after learning that.

I also just realized that I can still give a head weight to the OP though since I also have an extra handle and can do subtraction. 🙄

Ok here’s one example:
H&B Boys hawk lists the head as about 3/4lbs (or 12oz.). Actual weight on mine is 9oz (handle is also 9oz).
