After years of viewing their wares online I put in an order for the large camp axe. Do any forum members have any H&B Forge tomahawks and in particular what is the weight of the large camp axe it is listed at 4 pounds i was wondering is this actual weight or shipping weight?

I cannot say enough about HB Forge-my first tomahawk is a Shawnee and to this day it has more trail miles than any other axe I own. Super simple, super utilitarian, super effective. For 40 dollars, you get a finely designed, hand crafted, unique and personal axe with obvious attention to detail and some fantastic impact steel. I don't have experience with the Large Camp Axe but I can reassure you that you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the response! I will probably reward myself with Shawnee or one of the smaller hammer polled tomhawks depending on the heft of the large camp axe.

Looking on the site the shipping weight of a Shawnee, it's 3 pounds. I think the hawk in and of itself is just over a pound. Those weights can't be accurate.

Yea thats what im thinking now because that would be a boat anchor of a hawk if it was 4 lbs. Looking at the site the throwing knife is really catching my eye now.

Have a Shawnee and one of there throwing knives....Very happy with both of them !

I have a Shawnee as well, picked it up 8 years ago I think.

I've beaten the ever loving hell out of it, it's seen some pretty rough crap; that being said, it's definitely worth more than their asking price. The edge might be missing a lot of metal, but it's still sharp and I can't say enough good things about it. For their price, you can easily get 1 of everything and you'd be set for life.

nice looking hawk M67. I was thinking about buying one of CAS Hanwei's Tac-Waki's for BOB use but I kept coming back to a hawk for sheer practicality. Also I have no sword training so I would probadly be a danger to myself more than anything. Plus the Native Americans did use Hawks against swords and long bladed knives to good effect.

Ky Ive been eyeing your work too and after i clear some things up ima have to give you a holler.

The hawk and sheath came today and im happy to say the least. Its hefty without being unweildy and the sheath is awesome. I bought an extra handle and it came unfinished so im going to research so antique hawks and stain it to look period correct.
