I have a H.E.S.T. FB that I love (except for the stupid bottle opener  ). I have stripped it and convexed the edge. The problem is that since I stripped the blade, the knife is looser in the sheath (rattles around). Any easy fixes?

Thanks in advance,

Doc

Shove a piece of foam down in the sheath so the tip rests in the foam everytime you stick the knife in.

Sorry can't offer any advice on the loose sheath, could you post pics of the stripped H.E.S.T. i've been considering stripping mine once it starts to show signs of wear and tear.

Thanks, Jeff. I might try that, but I was thinking more along the lines of heating it up and squashing it a bit or something like that. I have zero experience at working with kydex.

OTOH, your suggestion might be the best. It still locks in the sheath fine.

Here you go, trailhopper. Somewhat reminiscent of a Bravo Necker (stripped blade, rest untouched), although that wasn't the intention.

Sorry the blade is somewhat blurry. I didn't take the picture. I would take another picture, but the blade has black magic marker on it (fine tuning the convex).

Hmmm, all the bottles up your way must twist off eh ?

I just tighten the screws on the Kydex sheath. Could it be because things shrink in the cold?? :)

what's that little knit thingy the knife is sitting on?

Despite the concensus calling it a H.E.S.T. pillow , it's actually a PSK.

If you're interested you can read about it here and here.

In the second link you can also see Kochanski's Flip Flop Winch in use.

Pretty well, but a cap can be lifted off with the side of the spine with no problem at all, on top of which I edc a Vic Spirit, wear a belt buckle, etc. Well, you get the idea. Besides if I was to take beer in the bush, it would be in cans to prevent the chance of a bottle falling, breaking, and wasting a beer.

It's my habit to study being down to only one tool :)

I prefer mine in bottles...if I can't have draught, gets so much colder than cans, stays colder longer

Just get a new custom sheath that fits better. :) Or better yet, send it to me and just get a new one. :) :)
