I came home and a little box from Knifeworks.com was waiting for me. I opened the box as fast as possible :). First impression is great quality. I was thrown off a little by the size I thought it would be smaller. But that is not a negative it is a plus being bigger, fits my hands very well. I did my usual paper cut test and it passed just fine.

After the initial wooing and awwing I adjusted the sheath to carry on the belt. This is my first RAT and for some reason I do not think it'll be my last.

I'll have a better review after I use it for awhile.

Sorry no pics

man that knife is missing something without the signature. Still a nice knife though. I'll get one eventually

The more I use this knife the more I realize the though that went into designing it.

That knife is a perfect sized for working, edc knife, Urban city, yard anything. Good blade length. Not to big you can pack/hike if you wanna keep weight down but have a solid knife/blade. I still love my Izula but it's small. Good if you carry a RC4 or larger imo. But for urban ecd the Izula is probally all you need. The Hest will cover alot more area's especially if you only can buy one knife. The most common thing ppl tell me about all the R.A.T knives is " man that's a nice blade." All the knives have thick solid looking cutters on them. I prefer the Hest and my Izula. For me that will cover most all my needs in the city and woods. But I still have bigger knives but they just won't get used as much. JME

I am glad RAT DPx H•E•S•T users are enjoying their knives! I just wanted to say that as of September 1st the limited edition signed knives are going OFF sale and won't be available from www.dpxgear.com

Unnumbered knives without the book an certifcate will be available from RAT dealers.

I am heading to Afghanistan for an extended period and I look forward to stories from DPx users. Stay tuned for my next knife design and plenty of field shots and tips as the H•E•S•T gets tested by the special operations community.

Here is a picture of the H.E.S.T. I took with my Blackberry.

The picture doesn't do the knife justice. Great knife can't wait to put it to some more use.

Great looking H.E.S.T, I don't think i've seen any pics of the sheath yet, mind if you take one with the knife in?

The signed RAT DPx H•E•S•T is going off sale today and is available only from dealers as of Sept 1st. All the orders are shipping today so if you have been patiently awaiting your new best friend..Look for it in the mail.

I am off to the wars and hope you enjoy. I will look forward to reviews and comments on the knife as I work on our next, very nasty, very tough, very well thought out and very well made DPx knife. The DPx H•E•F•T (Hostile Environment Fighting Tool) has been laid out and I am finalizing the design in Afghanistan. You can guess who has a lot of input on this product. When the knife is designed and manufactured and ready for shipping we will begin selling a limited number of signed units with an additional product. Then they too will go on sale at dealers.

Thanks for purchasing the RAT DPx H•E•S•T and I hope it is as useful and durable for you as it is for me.
