Well, as you can see by my # of posts, I'm Blade Forums Neophyte. I must have spent 30 total hrs. pouring over makes, types, pros, cons, dealers, reviews, etc. Well, I finally pulled the trigger. As it will be a user, I decided on the H.E.S.T. for my first "real" knife purchase. Spent all morning, (after removing 15" of snow) trying to find one, and I believe I purchased the last one from Patriot Knives. Yeah, thats right, e-mail confirmation and everything! :)

Hello, My Name is Iraq8er, and I am a knifeaholic!

You are lucky to find one. Most dealers have sold out. It is a great knife, hope you enjoy it.

This hobby and potato chips have one thing in common and one thing separating them,, chips are cheap, knives not so much,,and you can't eat/buy just one.

Talk to me in a few months when your wallet is bled dry, you have bought your thirtieth knife and 4 more incoming, 3 more your dying to own from weekend binge online!

I picked up 2 HEST's in the last week... one was on order, and I actually stumbled across one in a local brick and mortar store (it was their last one)... so I just couldn't resist.

The same store also had the DT ESEE 3 at a good price so I picked that up too.

It will quickly become an addiction, then full on obsession - and people will start to look at you funny when you start talking the differences between D2, M4, CPM S30V, and why CPM154 is different than 154 CM

Ouch , my head hurts! OK, OK. which brick & mortar we talking 'bout?

Yes, the fixed blade HEST.

There is a small local shop here in southern Maryland called Ye Olde Cutlery & Gifts or something like that, and he surprisingly has an incredible selection of high end knives.

He carries a ton of Benchmade, Kershaw (and Zero Tolerance), Kabar, Cold Steel, Boker, Emerson, Sypderco - and gets in one or two specialties here and there (such as my HEST, or a Strider here and there)

Prices are just a tad higher than ordering online - however I enjoy supporting local business and sometimes depending on the shipping cost, there isn't much difference at all in price.

I do have a Hest Folder on order though through Knife Center (who oddly is also based here in Maryland).

Thanks for the reply goat, I totally agree on supporting local businesses, can't find much in the way of quality cutlery in my neck of the woods. If the gas prices weren't so high, I'd consider supporting yours though!

Yeah you'll really enjoy it I have 4 , 1 user and 3 safe queens for now anyway
