Just joined today, So Hello to everybody. Well just purchased a H.I. 18" Chiruwa Ang Khola by Yangdu. When I received it was WOW this kukri is totally impressive!! I was blown away!! Wondering if anybody can give some good tips on the maintenence and sharping techniques so I can keep this beast in tune at all times. I must add that Yangdu at H.I. is one of nicest persons I have ever had the previlege to talk to and I'am sure that this kukri is'nt the only one , there will be more to add to my collection. The workmanship is of high standard.

you will find it a very reliable blade as a user or as a display piece, HI does not disappoint, the little tools that come with it are partially for maintenance, but you need to get you some good three in one oil, some hoof ointment ( for the horn). boiled linseed oil ( for any wood furniture) , and leather treatment, either udder balm or neats feet oil .

generally, like a gun, if you dont play with it all the time the best policy is to clean once a year at least and it will maintain just fine, if you use it all the time the chakma is there to roll the edge back into place after some work , welcome to the infection !

Hey Cool Cutter,
Glad to hear ya like your new CAK. As im sure you have found by now, the "how to" sticky on this HI mfg forum. Lots of great info and reviews. Also, if ya check out the thread started by uluaparks about his murali bone cutter Christmas. On that thread you'll see a couple pics posted by karda, the big 20in Ang Khola that is above a CAK thatis above a AK bowie. In that pic, the one on top got left stuck in the top of a tree stump out in the rain and sun for two or three weeks( got covered in surface rust/oxidation). All of which polished out and sharpened right up. So take good care of the wood, horn, n leather and enjoy the blade that will outlast your great grandchildren. = ) Happy Chopping

Welcome to the forum Cool Cutter! Congrats on your CAK! That one is still on my wish list! Enjoy your stay!
